What will happen to the mount quest

What will happen to the mount quest

I've been lurking here for the past two weeks and have found the site incredibly useful (even Arkham Asylum). However, there is one thing that has been nagging me that has not been brought up at all. With the changes to the judgement system, how are they going to rework the alliance Charger quest to fit it? I've been playing since around the same time warriors crashed a server to get Blizz's attention for the round of class overhauls that gave us Righteous Fury (I still think it should be called Self Righteousness) and changed which seals were judged for the four different types of undead. But with the new judgement system only having three different judgement effects, how are they going to rework the event or the mechanics of the ghosts and judgements? Has anybody with a beta key tried to do the repeatable that becomes available after you get the Charger? My only guess is that it would not matter which judgement is being done but rather which seal is up when the judgement occurs.
Mordinm
My Paladin is a blood elf so our epic mount quest is different, but what was the trick with judgements on the ghosts. The horde shaman get what I thought was the exact same quest in scholo and have been completing it without Paladins just fine so I wouldn't think any changes would be needed.
KysenMurrin
Yeah, I mentioned this back when judgements were first changed. The quest isn't particularly difficult without the effect from judging correctly, but if the new system breaks it I'd hope Blizz would make a fix.
Personally, though, I won't be surprised if it eventually goes the way of the Warhorse and just gets put on trainer.

Mordinm - the trick was, judging the correct seal in each wave of spirits did an AoE effect that stunned and caused extra damage. Seal of the Crusder being removed would mean you go one wave with no way to use the extra Judge effect; the other changes might break the effect entirely.

I've actually gone horde since I did the quest on my pre-BC pally. This was just something that crossed my mind. I really enjoyed the event (despite the horrible pugs I had to do to finish it) and wanted to see if anybody knew if it was broken with the new judgement system.

I too am curious as to what will become of it. I'm a freshly minted 61 human pally and am dreading going about doing that quest. I can't bring myself to just buying an epic mount. I might just tough it out for a bit on my 60% "mule" and wait until I can just complete it with one or two friends without having to PuG.

Any suggestions on whether to wait or just get it over with would be great.

Ask your guild for help (if you are in one). The likely case now is that all you will need is one tank, aoe dps (mage preferred) and a healer (likely you) to get through it, or just a 70 prot pally and you. And that is if your guild sucks. A good 70 prot pally should be at least able to solo to Rattlegore. All I'm going to have to do on my horde guild is ask "Anybody want to kill some dirty dirty pallys?"

Did they ever fix the fact that rank 2 seal of justice didn't work? I got my pally to 60 after the pre-BC patch, and when I ran this one, I couldn't figure out why judging justice wouldn't work, until I realized that rank 2 was brand new, and somehow didn't count. If they never fixed that, I imagine they'll just leave the quest broken. If they did fix that, then maybe they'll update the quest.
Fafa
It will most likely just stay broken. You don't need judgements to beat the fight by any means, so there probably won't be much motivation to fix it.

I've done it on my shaman and with others at least 6 times easily. Did it on my alliance too and didn't even bother to toss out judgements, just stood in the back corner and healed. Alliance always had an advantage on that fairly easy encounter :? The biggest thing, if I remember correctly, is taking a mage because you need the aoe and decurse, other than that just grab a good tank/healer and you're set. I'd imagine it would be even more of a joke if you did it as a prot paladin and took 3 aoers and a healer. Of course, taking a 70-80 would just make it trivial.

I've done the shaman version of the quest as well; if there was a gimmick to detonate the waves, we didn't know about it, and it was a bit difficult back at 60. But in the end, the quest was still doable at 60 without any kind of gimmick, and should be trivial with a 70+ player.

true, but i see that going against blizzard's design practices. Not to mention the fact that there are some hardcores that will do the quest as intended, at level 60 with no help from friends. Guess that's their problem though /shrug

For the record, that was Argent Dawn.

What are the opinions of the Paladin community? Should they make the 100% mount trainable for Pallys and Locks? Even at 70, it is really difficult for an unguilded player to find a group. The custom encounters for the Charger and Dreadstead are awesome, and it would be sad if players didn't get a chance to try them, but...Is it realistic to ask folks to get groups for these now?

It might make it a little easier to find a group if they threw a Death Knight quest in at 60 that required the same encounters.
Doogiehowser
I've started to finish out these quests but I'm still a ways away.

I want to experience the content as most of you did, but since I joined post-TBC, finding groups for DM West, Strat, Scholo is proving to be a burden.

I don't think they should just give the spell without having to do something related but 3 "dead" dungeons is a little steep at this point. (especially when you still need keys to DM West) Sure I could probably solo it when I get up higher, but that's not that much fun either.

I'm not trying to QQ, but there should be some other way to do this quest given the current environment.

Maybe create a Gauntlet of Trials in which you are expected to do it solo without help. You would still need to use all of your skills/blessings/seals but make it more condensed and maybe even using spells from your different books.

1) Wounded charger spirit - using flash of light/holy light/purify to heal the spirit while escorting it through a nasty patch of ghouls and demons trying to kill it.

2) Protect charger spirit - You and charger are attacked by an elite boss where you still have to keep it alive but also down some undead boss. Understanding RD is a must as well as bubble.

3) Avenge charger spirit - once you given him safe haven, another wave of baddies with one final encounter with another boss which allows you to envigorate/summon the charger.

Make it so you have to use some healing/tanking/ret skills to better round us out.

This is pretty much what we have to do already, but allow it to be done so you can solo it in your capital city's or even outside Light's Hope Chapel. At this point, the quest line is dead. People are begging/paying higher ups to drag them through the quest lines . Pallys are running around on regular epic mounts and I don't think that is good for the overall game or us pallys.

Just a suggestion...

Just think about the poor druids, getting epic flight form is going to be hard since it requires a heroic Sethek halls run. Which in turn needs the key and rep from lowercity. At least any 80 CAN walk into Scholo/Stratholme for the paladin Qs

I totally agree with you. I feel bad for the epic flight form because I think that lvl 70 heroics will probably die off like Strat/Scholo/DM have. What's the reason to do a lvl 70 heroic? For an epic that will be replaced 5 levels into WotLK?

However, I don't think we should just rely on an 80 that I paid 50g to run around and do 3 dungeons with me. It's going to further cheapen the quest than it already is. I don't know, maybe they should make a new original epic pally mount a little different in size, shape or color. For the original pallys, make theirs purple (sign of royalty) and new ones just blue and red. Like how the Romans had the regular old Legion and then you had the Praetorian Guard. Give those that have done the quest line a "badge of distinction".

Leaving it the way it is will just push new pallys to buying the regular epic and miss out on a cool piece of the game. I know I'm sure feeling this way...
