Popular Tankadin Specs

Might tends to be better for physical DPS classes than Kings. My list would look more like this:

Warriors - Kings, Might (if I've only got 2 paladins and one of them is me tanking, Light isn't as important), Light, Salv. DPS warriors can get 5-min salvs in place of Kings or Light.
Druids - depends entirely on what kind of druids I have. We usually have a mix of healing and feral druids, so we go Kings, Light, Wisdom, Might, Salv. If we had no druid healers, it would be Kings, Might, Salv, Light just like Warriors.
Hunters - Wisdom, Might, Kings, Salv, Light
Rogues - Might, Kings, Salv, Light
Shaman - Again, classes depend on what spec you have. Salv is most important for enhancement shaman, followed by Might. Wisdom is most important for healing shaman, followed by Kings.

Not to argue against you, just to show that different guilds and players have different priorities, and so differences in specs will occur. The goal of the post is to give someone an idea of different possible specs and then have them tweak it from there if they feel the need.

Lore,

I understand your post and disagree with it almost 100%. However, as you say to each his or her own.

Do bear in mind, Karathos, that Kings provides INT, and thusly MP, and STA, and thusly HP. Giving your DPS and healers an extra 1000 HP or so can be the difference between a dead DPS or a live one. Not to mention that with a priest w/ Divine Spirit it provides a SDMG/Healing buff, too. Or an ele shammy gets a bonus to their mp/5, so on and so forth.

Baelor,

I am one of the two main tanks of my guild (myself and a prot warrior) together main tank places we each have kara groups starting this week. His started thursday and my own will start sunday (wish me luck guys), I am curious over will your build not be very efficient till I get to the point of having fully geared out kara gear at least?

I personally prefer the 0/46/15 build

http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=sZE0tIx0dggozVfx

I dropped Ardent Defender, picked up 1h weapon specialization, spell warding, and devo aura in the prot tree. And picked up imp. SotC.

I like it for awesome tanking + great threat generation.

Would it be possible to make reference to 40/21 under the ret rocket; a 2% threat sacrifice for increased viability as a tank. The threat output of both builds is very close but 40/21 still can MT a boss without losing part of their tools.

Been doing some tinkering with specs, and came up with this;

12/41/7 - http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=sVV0bZV0tIx0dggozVb

Essentially, it's a threat rocket spec, with a strong panic button in Imp. LoH. It's missing Ardent Defender, though I'm thinking on harder content Imp. LoH is possibly more useful. It's also missing Deflection, which is a sore loss, but uncrushability can be reached without it, at high enough gearing levels.

Key features:

Imp. SoR, Imp. LOH, Imp. Judgement. Keeps Reckoning, Avenger's Shield, and 1H spec.

Key penalties:

Missing Ardent Defender. Also missing Deflection. No Precision.

Any thoughts?

Here is a Prot/Ret hybrid build you guys can try.

0/31/30

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/paladin/talents.html?0000000000000000000005005033500001503010000523505000020125000000

This build gets you to Holy Shield, then the rest in Ret. It's a Moshadin build, focus on quick 1H that can get you crit as often as possible to keep Vengeance up and going. Probably the most offensive tanking build with almost no mitigation talents from Prot. However this build does make you a really good OT, if you have the gears to make up the shortcoming of lack of Prot talents. With Holy Shield you can hold boss for a little while until another tank picks up. Reckoning is Debatable, as always.

EDIT: An alternative build

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/paladin/talents.html?0000000000000000000005205133500001005010000523505000020125000000

With Precision and more 1H Spec but no Reckoning.
