2.4: Spell haste for tanking?:)

Quote from 2.4 PTR notes:

Spell Haste: Spell haste now reduces the global cooldown on spells, down to a minimum of 1 second. This change does not apply to melee and ranged abilities. (Source)

Should we ask for spell haste on tanking items? We must be able to generate more threat with a shorter GCD

To intensive math for me, but I bet some of you guys can figure it out:)

There are three things we have that use the GCD for spells that matter: consecration, seals, and holy shield. All of these are on a cooldown independent of the GCD.

Now, when we get into the rotation this does actually matter, but it matters very trivially. Basically, assuming you have a 1 second GCD, you can in theory get more consecrates in without running into issues with holy shield. You could also get more improved judgements in without holy shield. That being said, we are talking something like 2 seconds of consecrate and 4 seconds of sealed weapon swings in a 40 second interval, assuming a 1 second GCD.

A 1-second GCD would require 785 haste rating.

This is not what you want to be spending your itemization budget on.

If paladins had a tanking ability that could be spammed and was a spell - some kind of spell sunder or something - then it might be worth haste. As it stands though, it really isn't.

We won't get any benefit from spellhaste itemization since it's meant for DPS or healing.

BUT
We will actually get a bit more TPS from Bloodlust/Heroism since we will be able to use skills quickly and thus make cooldown start quicker and then use them a few more times. Not a BIG change for us actually, it's meant for holy paladins to give a sense to spellhaste plate.
