Group pull followed by RD on boss?

I have an idea and want to run it by all of you. I've never seen anyone mention trying anything like this and I'd like to know if it is feasible.

Let's assume a typical 5 man boss and you are tanking. What if the 3 DPS and the Healer all managed to cast a 'nuke' type spell at about the same time to initially pull the boss; then you immediately follow with RD, AS, JoR, etc...

So say maybe you have two Mages, a Warlock and a Resto Shammy.

The two Mages start casting Pyroblasts (on a countdown over Vent), the Warlock starts Soulfire and the Shammy waits on the countdown to cast a Lightning Bolt and times it to launch at the same time.

You will have 4 nukes hitting the boss at about the same time. You immediately follow with RD and AS (Exorcism if possible), JoR, etc...The DPS of course waits till they normally would to continue with DPS.

The boss should take a good amount of damage right off the bat and you should have no problem jumping out to a nice threat lead after the RD.

This would help especially with the DPS race bosses.

Anyone ever try this?

Also the boss might go back to DPS if you cant catch up the threat they already generated.

What do you mean? Do you mean, for example, if A nuke first, generated 5k threat, then you taunt, and you get a free 5k+threat?

Fixed.

Crit + rolling ignites = dead mages, I think, especially considering most bosses are untauntable, and RD is somewhat sketchy at best.

I mean, you probably could do it and pull it off and it'd be all pretty and neat, but given that you can ramp up 10k threat in about three seconds, why not just have them wait a couple seconds before opening up with the big guns?

Ah, I thought our taunt is different from war/druid one, never checked Omen too.

However, what encounter it is? Slabs 2nd boss? SV 1st boss with 2 elemental adds? Those dont hit hard, but if the boss one shot cloth wearers, gonna be a bad idea I guess, all the benefit you get is one extra cast from dps basically. And if dps doesnt hold fire (instants, and dots), your TPS cant catch up (no iniatial avenger shield, and after the taunt, you might get spell interruption right away), it goes back to dps then.

There would be no point in having all your dps pull the boss since your taunt only gives you threat equal to the player that currently has the aggro. Also if you are taunting off of a class that doesn't have an aggro drop, then you aren't getting a jump start at all.

If you're truly interested in pulling with a large jump start in threat, use a hunter. The hunter can pull with high initial threat after which you would taunt off the hunter and match his threat. After the taunt the hunter should Feign Death; now you're the only person in the group with threat. After the FD the hunter can follow up with a Misdirection to give you even more of a lead. Done right I suppose a hunter could provide you an 8-10k threat lead at the start of a fight. Is it really worth the work though? That would be up to you. You also run the risk of taunt and Feign Death being resisted.

As others have stated, it's not worth the risk of a failed taunt. Besides, AW + AS + JoR is already plenty of threat to allow your DPS to start unloading right away.

Your idea gave me another:

you could have a mage cast a pyroblast on the boss, and you taunt immediately after.
At this point you have the same hate as the mage, and considerably more than the other dps in the group.

Thus, all the dps (but the mage) can start dpsing sooner, because you have more agro.

The mage has to wait more (like in a standard pull).
