Raw mitigation cap?

Raw mitigation cap?

Is there any such thing?

I just heard that RF for paladins and defensive stance for warriors works additive with the mitigation from armor, is that true?

That would mean that warriors have a armor cap around 20k ~ 65% + 10% from defensive stance = 75% cap against a lvl 70 target (would need abit more armor against bosses).

Is there any truth to this?

edit: Might be an idea to make a Q&A thread in these forums, for all the silly questions like mine that aren't really covered by your guides

percentage modifiers should be multiplied, not added.

Lets say a warr and a pally both take a 10k raw hit with 65% armour damage reduction

Hit gets reduced to 3500. Then Rightous Fury/Defensive stance comes into play, turning the 3500 hit into 3150 (warr) or 3290 (paladin)

As far as I know the only mitigation cap is the 75% armor reduction value achieved at around 35000 armour.

So that means a warrior/paladin could in theory get a 75% mitigation with 36k armor, and mitigate an additional 6 or 10% of the armor-mitigated damage? And after that, they could block also?

For example:
20k armor = 62,6% mitigation against a Boss

15k Raw damage * (1-0.626) = 5610 hit
5610 hit * 0.94 = 5273.4
5273.4 / 15000 = 0.35 = 65% mitigation in total

With 800 blockvalue:
5273.4 - 800 = 4473.4
4473.4 / 15000 = ~70% mitigation

Still sort of impossible to hit 75%, even with 20k armor and 800 blockvalue. I guess it can't be true then

You could get pretty close to a 75% damage reduction with top end gear plus inspiration plus stoneform. An armour value of 27500 is probably the highest I could see reasonably happening.

As a minor side note its worth remembering crushes when comparing yourself to a bears damage reduction. If for example a bear has 55% avoidance then 1 in 3 of this hits landed on it will be crushes, meaning their average damage taken takes a bit of a big jump upwards.

A endgame tanking bear has ~70% fullavoidance + armorcap...do not underestimate this at hardhitting bosses.
