Parry becoming rather vauable.

Well, I knew that I had to be getting close to this point, but I had no idea HOW close. If Ignis drops his Furnace Stone tonight (Hasn't happened in months so why would he) I will be at the point where my parry trinket (rune of repulsion) is more avoidance than my dodge trink (Valor Medal of the First War) as dodge will scale the same as parry....weird!

Re: Parry becoming rather vauable.

Its my understanding that Parry still has a worse DR so point for point it will still be worse in most situations

Re: Parry becoming rather vauable.

Parry is less ugly then it was, but we still wouldn't gem for it at this stage in the game.

Re: Parry becoming rather vauable.

Parry rating is still bad, and becomes horrible if you already have 150-200 from your armor (not including trinkets). You'd have to have an insane amount of dodge and defense in order for a parry trinket to overcome Repelling Charge or Valor post DR.

Re: Parry becoming rather vauable.

Gem for it? NO

Replace Dodge trink instead of Parry trink...YES PLEASE!

w/o Furnace Stone (Using Rune of Repulsion & Valor Medal of the First War)
Dodge = 29.94%
Parry = 19.62%
Total = 49.56

Now replacing Rune of Repulsion w/ Furnace Stone ( Using Valor Medal of the First War & Furnace Stone)
Dodge = 31.57
Parry = 18.29
Total = 49.86

Now replacing Valor Medal of the First War w/ Furnace Stone (Using Rune of Repulsion & Furnace Stone)
Dodge = 30.27
Parry = 19.62
Total= 49.89

I know it's not much, but it is an increase in avoidance= increase in survivability

Not earth shattering info, but I always assumed Rune of Repulsion would be replaced before Valor Medal of the First War, guess I was wrong.

Re: Parry becoming rather vauable.

Heart of Iron or bust....besides JC trink, any other stam trink is BLAH!!! 31.4k w/o a stam trink is sexy enough for me. Sitting almost 42k buffed w/ over 33% dodge and almost 20% Parry after DR....yeah thats hot

BTW...Ignis hates me (only dropped one trink in 10/25man since first week of Ulduar) I WANT BOTH (beautiful synergy)

Ah, you're right. Rune of Repulsion will give you higher avoidance than a defense or dodge trinket at your level of DR. Fully raid buffed in Rawr:

Furnace/Repulsion: 63.91%
Furnace/Repelling: 63.81%
Furnace/Valor: 63.76%
Repulsion/Valor: 63.62%
Repulsion/Repelling: 63.60%

Re: Parry becoming rather vauable.

I cried putting in the HoL defense trinket in over a stam one, I'd been double stamina ever since, well, I got trinkets!

False. Do some maths before you start spreading misinformation, please.

I was mistaken and believed Rune was ilvl200. It is ilvl 213. The OP has an unusually high amount of dodge (694 rating). Not many individuals are in the 5th region. Most in Ulduar level gear are in the fourth region.

If there were a defense trinket with 89 defense rating, or 5 more than the current Repelling Charge, then it'd yield a higher amount of avoidance than Rune of Repulsion (95 parry rating).

Under 3.2 rules:
For 0 Parry Rating the break point to add 1 Parry Rating is 689 Defense Rating, 223 Dodge Rating.
For 50 Parry Rating the break point to add 1 Parry Rating is 689 Defense Rating, 316 Dodge Rating.
For 100 Parry Rating the break point to add 1 Parry Rating is 753 Defense Rating, 431 Dodge Rating.
For 150 Parry Rating the break point to add 1 Parry Rating is 844 Defense Rating, 554 Dodge Rating.
For 200 Parry Rating the break point to add 1 Parry Rating is 935 Defense Rating, 677 Dodge Rating.
For 250 Parry Rating the break point to add 1 Parry Rating is 1026 Defense Rating, 800 Dodge Rating.

Re: Parry becoming rather vauable.

Although it's easier to compare based on parry rating from a practical standpoint, you should probably base your rating ratio comparisons from a defence rating standpoint btw, as to avoid that double 689 value ever popping up ;p
