yet another ? about BV

If someone would be so kind to explain the difference on items when they say "gives __ block value to shield" vs "Increase the block value of your shield". It seems to me it may be same thing, but im sure I am reading it wrong. This is getting confusing because some items such as breastplates and shields have BOTH of these.
Thanks,

Taragor

Could you give an example of an item with "gives ___ block value to shield" on it? It sounds like those should both be the same thing, but I've never actually encountered what you're talking about.

TY Im sorry i'll be more specific...T7 heroes redemption breastplate says

equip "increase the block value of your shield by 59
equip increase your shield block rating by 47

So is it all the same? or is there a difference in how the values are calculated. I just got the breastplate tonight...damn son....but im curious as they seem to be the same to me.....

thanks =)

Block Rating (BR) affects your chance to block, the % you see on your char sheet. Block Value (BV) affects the amount that your shield blocks each time. Hover over your block % on the char sheet to see your BV. You get BV from Str as well, and it determines the dmg done by your Shield of Righteousness.
