Consercration : needs rework?

You know how it takes a second or two before your consercration ticks on the mob?

We were gonna work on Sarth10-3D, and sometimes, and it does happen a lot, when the whelps spawn, they head straight for the healer, and they simply get out of the consercration before a tick hits them.

We have switched to Warrior being the adds tank where thunderclap is instant and does dmg right away, would hold them much better.

Do you think it's a hassle? Do you think it needs some re-work?

Gonna see how fellow tankadins feel about this before I write it up and post on the forums.

Would be nice if it ticked on cast, for sure.

I've been wondering how I'm going to go with picking up the whelps once JoL threat is gone. So far I've been cheating by putting JoL on the drake Embarassed

It would be a nice change and I don't see how it breaks anything, seems like a good idea (although you might want to spell the ability correctly when posting it for Blizz Razz).

I think it is just a difference in styles. Warriors get front loaded burst aoe threat while pallies get a constant dot that healers can stand in to lose agro. Both have their advantages and disadvantages.

Instead of trying to pick up the adds where they spawn and consec where the healers are and itll make it easier for you to grab them

For both 10 and 25 (10 hasn't been completed yet but 25 has) I always lay a consecrate right outside of the portal in the general direction of the healers. Also don't bother waiting for the whelps to spawn to have it down, just learn the timing and have it down before. If you just lay it when they spawn the tick is delayed further than necessary.

Human reaction time and server lag, in addition to the 1 second wait can be detrimental to picking them up. If you have it down already, it will tick anywhere from right away, to 1 second after they appear, which is going to be much more reliable.

Mind you, on the occasion we run with 4 tanks in the fight (our first kill was with three), if one of our warriors gets to the adds relatively early, they will obviously have control over them. It's generally agreed upon that I then just taunt the adds one by one (three by three technically) and hold them to be AoE'd next to the second drake, while he runs around picking up the newly spawning adds as he waits to pick up the third drake.

EDIT: One issue with a warrior tank, is that they may pick the adds up better, but control is harder for them to maintain. Also since the first portal spawn can coincide with a lava wall, I've seen the adds get out of control because there is no "static threat zone" while they are dodging an inconvenient wall.

in 25, i really don't see a problem as there will be more healers at where the spawn is, thus, whelps will sit in consercrate.

the problem i was experiencing was in 10 mans, where one healer would be near sarth tank and the other is in mid healing the drake tank, what happened was that the whelps split and basically left the consercrate.

and timing and all that, it's a lot of luck on the server lag, of course i lay it down constantly, but... so far. not that good in 10s

Also good if you have a pally healer with RF on as all the adds go to him.

Pallies are no longer the "aoe tank" this is another good scenario to point out to people why aoe doesn't always automatically equal pally. Just have the warrior grab them instead and you tank.

Frankly I've stopped trying to use consecrate to nab aggro in trash aoe's. With a Deathknight ot around its totally pointless trying to use your own aoe aggro. Now I know how the warriors and druids felt in BC. Every tank has their method of grabbing mass aggro and DK's are the king at it. So let them have it and be happy.

If you've got a hunter or shaman along then frosttrap/earthbind by the portal and having consec down before the whelps spawn is generally enough. Earthbind works on pulses though, so it's considerably less reliable than a frost trap.
