Character Sheet Percentages

So I only just noticed today that in the character sheet mouseovers, there's subtext saying "Before diminishing returns."

Does this mean none of the percentage values can be relied on? That seems a little illogical, even for Blizzard; if they can't be trusted, how the hell do we get accurate numbers?

You take the values you're given, then you go and get hit for ages, and work out what the actual values are. Or you get someone else to do it for you and look at the result.

The numbers on your sheet are what you have.

The numbers listed in the mouseovers are what is added before diminishing returns kick in.

5% + what it says in your Defense tooltip.

Edit:

To check how close you are to block cap, it's:

5% + Defense tooltip + dodge% + parry% + block% + 30%

If that is >= 102.4 you're block capped.

I'm confused; some people are saying the percentages are pre-DR some are saying post, and some are saying some are pre and some are post.

What's the final answer? >.>

DR = diminishing returns

I too want a final answer.

So far it seems.

The first numbers you see in char sheet are exact and can be used to calc block cap. (probly true)

Tooltips of defense miss% are pre-DR and not accurate. (Pls confirm)

I don't believe miss has diminishing returns.

Good for you Salamandra, but it's not been proven either way.

To the other question, the numbers that are shown on your character sheet are the correct numbers you have, when you mouse-over you see the number, as it says, before diminishing returns.

However, we don't yet know how much if at all miss is affected by diminishing returns and since you can only see that from a mouse-over, calculating block cap might get a bit iffy.

Is there a macro to calculate it like there was for uncrushable?
