Mana Dancing

I've been doing this for a LONG time, since way back in SSC. And firstly, I apologize if this has been discussed elsewhere, feel free to /delete or /lock this threat but if it hadn't been covered I figured it would go well in Advanced Training.

So anyways, having mana issues? Are you topped off at all times because you aren't getting hit hard enough or enough times to take any damage? Try Mana Dancing! Simply hit your x button (default sit) and take a critical hit, if its trash you might just wanna spam that x button. Personally I never even warn my healers, though they do know about me using it. It's better than having to ask for an innervate and much more fun! I get to see big numbers fly across my screen lol.

On a side note, beware of using this on boss fights, depending on ur gear / the level of the encounter you can get hit for as much as 13k, which could be disastrous. I have personally had this happen on sunwell trash after Felmyst, got smacked for 13k on one of the 2H mobs and it scared the crap outta me. I then proceeded to nervously laugh it off because I was lucky enough to have been paying attention and didnt try to spam x / was topped off. I have also done it on the first boss in MH in a pug group, I wasn't taking enough damage even though I had detuned my gear quite a bit, don't remember how hard she hit me but it was pathetic.

Or turn around.

Yeah, it's been discussed in different threads, but not as a topic of its own.

Turning around to me seems good vs multiple mobs vs sitting for one mob. I may be mistaken, because I don't buttank very often, but you can't be crit from behind right?

Why they shouldn't crit you from behind? of course you can.

You can't get *gouged* from behind Razz

Ahhh, so I can be crit from behind lols, I thought it just guaranteed they would hit me. I've been in love with mana dancing for a long time, keeps healers on their toes in heroics when they see, oh, t6 tankadin, I can /afk after hotting them up now.

Well as obvious as it can be, if you are uncrittable, you cannot be crit from behind Wink

Not exactly. Simply Block Dodge and Parry become 0% when attacked from Behind, the attack table stays the same.

AMG, I want to edit my post. I thought I had been missing something from day 1 about buttanking, lol. I really didn't think I could be crit from behind, but the original response I must have misinterpreted. I don't consider myself an expert in any way, shape or form lolz. I do know quite a lot, and figured this was just one of those things that I didn't pay attention to since I dont buttank at all except in ZA when doing bear runs and I am low on mana when we are on our way to the 4th boss. I like to buttank there with the cats but I never remembered seeing big numbers (using mikscrollingcombattext) come from the cats.

I still prefer mana dancing vs 1 mob for sure, except for those DW adds in sunwell after felmyst, though 1300 instant mana return from 1 crit is pretty enticing lol.

Lol, I once had one of my druid buddies Innervate me while I was tanking and I just laughed and actually let him know what my mp5 was. I often use the sit or asstank methods of keeping mana, though I do so hope that this promised land of WotLK with BoSanc and not having to use consecrate as much is a real place, and soon I will live there and not be OOM all the time in heroics and what not.

I got a few Innervates while (accidentally) tanking Kaz'rogal once.
