Buff threat (threat from buffs)

I've been seeing people weaving RF into their spare cycles on super-threat-intensive fights like Brut.

Why RF? Is buff threat scaled by mana cost or anything? I've just been resealing to grab fresh adds from across the room and it's been working pretty well. Will RF give me more threat for more mana?

RF is a large mana dump source with no CD so it is a good way to get extra threat from Spiritual Attunement.

Every point of mana regained from that spell gives I believe 1/2 point of threat which is why people who need to push maximum threat cycles will spam it on open GCDs.

It looks like we'll be unable to do this come 3.0. Resource gains from SA, replenishment and BoSanc don't appear to be causing threat. Mana pots do seem to cause threat still.

In an infinite mana situation you would gain about 35 threat every refresh currently.

Note that, come tommorow, there will be some slight changes in buffing threat. I figured I'd throw them in this thread.

Seal buffing threat will now be equal to the level at which you learned the seal, modified by baked in salv if you have RF up.

So the relevant point is that for ambient threat seal-spamming, you want to spam SoV/SoB on pulls (learned at level 74), and not SoR (learned at level 1).

Wouldn't it count the level that you learnt the particular rank of spell that you're using?

Seal spells don't have ranks anymore, iirc.
