Make your Holy Pally spec for Sanctity Aura? Yes/No?

Originally I posted this on the WoW paladin forums, I would like to get some answers from here as well if possible...

Assuming that the DPS loss from putting a ret pally in your tank group would be giving up too much, is it worth asking your regular holy pally to spec 40/0/21 for Sanctity Aura in order to increase your Pally MT's threat?

Assuming an Average raid like this

Tank group 1:

Prot Pally (MT)
Holy Pally
Ele Shaman
Affliction lock
Resto Druid

And your second tank group..

Shammy
Feral Druid (OT)
Hunterx3

Would the holy pally be giving up much healing ability by speccing 21 points into ret for Sanc Aura? Or is this a good/bad idea?

For 21 pts, they'd have to give up Divine Illumination. My main is a holy paladin, we're currently doing MH and BT, and I would never give up DI for Sanctity Aura. Not even if offered sweeties.

No, DI is a, imo, core part of the holy paladin, and you can't have both...

I think that any holy paladin doing T6 content or Sunwell giving up DI for Sanctity Aura is crazy. They have already a very hard time not going oom, without DI they won't last enough without shadowpriests.

Pre t6, it's doable since fights aren't mana intensive.

As I said in the WoW forums, you don't take the retadin out of the melee group. You either swap into the melee with him or get him a WF/shout in the tank group.

The DPS loss of taking a guy out of the melee group is going to be less than that of an ele shaman out of the caster group or an affliction lock coming at all in T6+.

To answer the question directly: If for some reason this minor change results in hitting an enrage timer but you have a paladin who can manage without DI, sure, have him respec 38/0/23 (might as well pick up 2% more threat in your gimp spec) and go to town. It is definitely the best threat output for your tankadin to be 49-51 Prot with sanctity up.
