On the Effectiveness of Various Threat Stats for Tankadins

That depends entirely on how far along the spectrum you are, and most of the Paladins who are that far along the spectrum should be intelligent enough to know the difference themselves.

How do I calculate how much initial threat on average Avenger's shield will be doing? I want to explain to my new guild why having me pull with Avenger's shield wasn't the best idea if they wanted the hunters to MD off me to another tank.

Pulling this number from Arcand's thread:

The 825 tps thing needs to be reworked. The original data didn't include SA gains, but if we ignore that it's basically SoR + white swing threat vs consecrate/sanc/judgement threat.

But, anyway, going based on Lore's number you only get ~900 with wrath of air and no sanctity. No trinkets.

If we take Misery into effect as about 4.5% threat boost (since it does nothing for white swings) it's still 949 spell damage. But again, this is the wrong way to calculate it I think.

Well it is a little misleading, since most of the time if you're looking at your TPS you are including SA in that. If Dorvan's 825 number does not include SA, then you should be seeing more actual TPS before you hit that point.

Honestly, I don't think it matters much; the gear that exists with expertise does not particularly compete with the gear that exists that has spelldamage, at least as far as a tankadin is concerned. There are a few exceptions here and there, but they're mostly in the amulet/trinket slots. You can't gem or enchant for expertise, almost no plate gear a paladin can get has it, and no weapon has it. So saying that you should gear for expertise is misleading as well; you can try, but at this point it's basically brooch of deftness, shard of contempt and bracers of the ancient phalanx.

In retrospect it was a silly question, but thanks for answering anyway.
