Reactive Threat

I can't access WWS right now. I'll try later and plug in the numbers. Should be fairly easy to calculate per each fight.

One interesting thing to note is that if the above is true and holy shield is largely not a big deal as far as threat goes, the strategy should almost always be to downrank holy shield and keep maxrank consecrate running for maximal threat output when mana is at all an issue.

Let me know if the mag one gets deleted. I posted it in october, so they could delete it at any time. I can simply rehost if so.

This is probably going to look a bit ugly, but hopefully you'll get the idea. I simplified the overall values because we don't care about the threat from healing or from SA when comparing threat on a boss, as it's only what we can do something about that matters. So these are presented as a percentage of the total threat that a paladin can actively or reactively generate by themselves.

(that being said, threat from spiritual attunement was regularly about 5-7% of total threat. Nice! Another reason to support mitigation over avoidance is that it produces more overall threat).

As expected, Prince is great for HS threat - 35 to 40% of all paladin threat generated came from HS. I suspect that if you had been able to land your consecrates on the second run, they'd both be around 35% of total threat. By comparison, the Hydross run only had HS generating 15% of threat via HS. Mag was up to 21%.

Melee was consistently around 10% of total threat.

I didn't compare whether JoV/SoV was better than JoR/SoR, but both seem to do around 35% total threat regardless.

Not a big surprise, but Consecrate was the big winner when dealing with multiple adds. (Kara and Hydross). Against single bosses it wasn't a slouch either, doing about 16% when actually being able to land.

In summary: reactive threat is not nearly as big a deal as one might think for a lot of battles. The primary threat against single bosses is the melee/SoRV/JoRV system. Consecrate is a big source of threat but is roughly equivalent to HS.

At least from these parses, it seems clear that whatever can maximize your melee/SoR/JoR damage will maximize your threat unless the fight is heavily melee (and quick-meleeing). One interesting conclusion from this is that holy shield can safely be downranked without gimping threat too harshly. Another conclusion is that improved judgment is a big deal to damage, moreso than originally thought.

Of course, more parses would be required to get any authoritative info.
