Anyone else worried about the future

I haven't noticed the sky moving downward lately, for paladins or warriors. I think it'll be ok. Good tanks everywhere are producing all the threat they need and more. Now, when Worldie/Lore/Cider/etc get worried, then I'll think there's something to it, but, I haven't seen any of that yet.

I mean, I saw a thread on tankspot today that was pretty much the same thing, but from a warrior perspective. The OP is worried about warriors catching paladins, and the guy on tankspot is worried that warriors will be overtaken by paladins. Hmm, both threads can't be right. I don't think either one is, but, what do I know? I've only tanked for almost four years, and watched the game change a lot in that time.

The only way to distinguish a warrior from a protadin is the way damage is taken. So we are blocktanks and warriors are avoidance tanks. We are not expected to have or develop individual playstyles anymore. Also we are not given any challenges, so you don't have to choose classes for any encounter - just go with what's available. So expect to be rewarded from BV and not from avoidance, as that is warrior specific now.

I am now ret spec and has tanked most heroics and VoA in blue lvl 187-200 tank gear. Works like a charm, with a little less threat. So if you don't even have to spec prot to tank the content, why worry about threat?

Ulduar is not likely to out before march, and that can ofc be handled with lvl 200 epics or maybe bit less. They did say it will be harder than Naxx:)

You can be certain that you will able to tank all content - the only question is whether you have to push any buttons or not.

Achievements is the endgame now - and thats only for time-lost players anyway. L2P is a word of the past. The key to success is the amount of free time available.

And for the above poster: volatile = versatile = yup droods rock - they can tank content with HP alone and let out massive damage.

Warriors are no more avoidance tanks than we are. They trade block mitigation on melee for spell mitigation.

i dont know how anyone can say avoidance is warrior specific, im really not afraid of being surpassed by warriors, they are gonna probably lose bv as well, however their single target threat isnt based as much on BV as ours is. we are losing threat from JoL, which i never used but it was an option. like i said from my experience there are dps that can catch us when they are geared to the teeth.

like i said maybe im just being paranoid, which is wierd because i really have nothing to worry about my guild has 4 tanks, one of each class, and they love me especially after we got Sarth3D this week.

i guess the numbers will be seen once we get some t8 gear previews going around.

Shield slam? Damage shield? BV might be more important to them.

they have rend, heroic strike, devestate, shield slam, shockwave, etc for threat. much more ways to gen threat than we do as well as being able to spec deep wounds which is a huge tps boost for them. and damage shields is a reactive ability it isnt their highest aggro single target ability like ShoR is for us. we still are limited we really still ahve a set rotation watching cds we dont really have extra abilities that we can have sitting unused unles the target is undead. and all of a warriors threat gets a threat modifier their whit dps will make up for the loss of 100bv ours will not. not to mention they have sword and board which has a chance to refresh shield slam, making it free and through talents and raid buffs they are looking at about 35% or more change to crit with it making deep wounds even better

You have not show they are less dependent on BV. Simply because one class has more moves does not mean they aren't smaller hits. Come back with good math and not touchy feely guesses then we can talk.

ill post a wws of our warrior with deep wounds and show you where most of their damage ie threat for warriors comes from, its not damage shields thats for sure, pretty sure its shield slam but like i said they have a chance to refresh is. meh like i said this is all speculation atm, i can just see where WE might have a problem i could care less about warriors tbh.

You do realise that Paladins currently have the highest DPS and TPS while tanking, and Warriors currently have the lowest DPS, right?

well yeah he will 90% have sanc, they this is he can dump his runic power and druid/warriors can dump excess rage, pallies are limited to their rotation and thats it we have now way to push more threat if we have are constantly mana capped
