MT vs OT for a tankadin

The only times I'm running OOM right now are on fights where you don't get hit a lot. Last night on Gothik the Harvester I went OOM while tanking the undead side.

Incidentally, he dropped his sword, but since it has less STA and Def than Red Sword I let it go offspec to the DPS DK. I mean, it looks kind of cool, but I'm just a few Defense Skill over 540, no Repelling Charge yet, and want to max STA.

On dead side 10 man I highly suggest not bothering with the non elites as a tank. They die fast enough to the dps.

Interestingly enough, as a warrior, I kept ahead of the pally OT on Patch this weekend. He never went over 96% the whole fight. He said he didn't start till he heard my shield connect the first time. He had about 1.5K more health than me, as he was better geared, so he took the strikes.

I think threat generation varies between people and how good they are with their rotations, whatever they may be. So, there's no one answer as to who will do better. If it was magically a pally ability to automatically out-threat me, then he'd have done so, as he told me he didn't hold back at all once he heard my shield connect once. i.e. all the threat lead I got was the Heroic Throw I used to pull Patch, and the initial (SBlocked) Shield Slam I started with. By the end of the fight, he was at 95% of me, and the nearest DPS was at 51%.

Edit: Oh, and I LOVE Heroic Throw. A little front-loaded threat on the pull? I'll take it.

Edit: these are just my observations; I care little for the warrior-vs-pally wars, other than tweaking the noses of those who think the sky is falling. Good tank is good, bad tank is bad. Class is irrelevant for 95% of things.

With our guild we run naxx 10man and 25man. My brother is one of the raid leaders, and he assigns tanks based on who is best suited for the situation and who has tanked what, leading me to have done most roles in 10man and 25man.

When tanking bosses or large mobs, I use seal of vengeance, and never have to worry about mana regen. When I am in a situation where my damage intake is less, I switch to seal of wisdom, and never have to worry about mana regen.

When trying to stay second on the threat list for a given fight, the issue is more that I need to hold back then that I need to worry about mana. I find it quite easy to overaggro on a lot of fights.

Of course, I've always had at least one shadow priest present, and on 25mans, there's usually four or more paladins there, so I have all the blessings there are.
(And remember, seal of wisdom gives a percentage of maximum mana, so the more mana you have, the more it gives back, so stacking kings, gift of the wild, arcane intellect and a guru's elixer helps too.)

I generally just find myself in the MT position because of the following reasons

A) I generate way more threat then the others
B) I have less HP then the others
C) I'm block capped

A+B+C = I'm the best MT and worst OT.

Staying 2nd on aggro is something warriors should worry about imo.

staying second in threat is pretty easy...as worldie said protdpsing is basically just take off RF and do your best. Two different things.

HAHA...

God... I wish more people understood this. On my last Naxx10 raid, we had the DPS freaking out because my BF was healing the DPS when they stepped into the slime to drop their HP. When in reality all the DPS was miles behind in threat on the Omen Meter. So none of them were in any danger of eating a HStrike.
