Basically, I have been examining the value of Agility vs Dodge from a different perspective.
I have been theorycrafting on what the change would be, if Blizzard phased out dodge rating and gave us equivalent points in Agility on our gear.
I used my current gear as a template.
It currently has 369 dodge rating.
Given the rest of my gear, it yields a chance to dodge of 25.08% given Kings and GotW.
Mitigation against a level 83 boss mob is 61.41% (assuming Devo aura is up)
Changing the dodge rating to 369 agi would yield a chance to dodge of 23.89% given the same buffs. A net loss of 1.19%, however, it would increase my armor mitigation by .71%
The net is of the calculation is that you will take slightly more damage.
For example, against a mob with an average raw hit of 30000, you would take about 3,985 more damage in the agi gear over 100 attacks.
Not a highly significant number, but it is more damage.
What most people are missing though, is the effect on the other side of the equation, which is our DPS/TPS.
369 Agi, given kings would translate to an increase in crit rating of about 7.8%....
A fairly substantial jump.
Its an interesting thought experiment, but irrelevant unless Blizzard decides to make some sweeping changes.
From a gemming/enchanting perspective, I would suggest that it really depends on where you are.
As long as your relatively happy with your avoidance, gemming/enchanting Agi over dodge is a valid option to maintain avoidance while increasing threat.
It is kind of a happy medium between gemming for threat (Str) or gemming for avoidance (dodge).
