Keybindings

what do i class as if i am strafing right with my keyboard while turning left with my mouse?

but on a serious note except for boss positioning i move with my mouse and run off the folowing keys:

for the most part those 7 keys will keep me happy as long as most of them are macroed to do multiple things.

when i need more then the 7 i usually click. I have every hotbar showing and full.

This is where it gets a little weird. On my first paladin I fell into the habit of using alt keys to heal, and years later I'm still stuck on it.

Third bar:

Alt 1 Flash of Light
Alt 2 Holy Light
Alt 3 Cleanse
Alt 4 Lay on Hands
Alt 5 Divine Shield
Alt 6 Blessing of Protection
Alt 7 Blessing of Freedom
Alt 8 Redemption

Change the turning buttons to strafe like in any FPS and you should quickly get in the habit of turning with the mouse.

That said, use a Nostomo n52 or Saitek Command Unit. They really do increase your performance. It's nice to be able to have 36+ buttons bound at any given moment, so you can quickly change the skull, cast a down-ranked spell, or use something like Turn Evil without digging through your spellbook.

I use the directional keys as my shift-state buttons.

I spent several days at work downloading all the icons from wowwiki, then organizing the normal state and each state into a "reverse QWERTY-esque" pattern :p with those keys I'd need most frequently more readily to hand (or finger?) than the others. Using the directional, I get five more states (I set "down," for example as "shift-" and "left" as "ctrl") and tons of keys bound all within an inch or two of each other. Ezmode tanking.

I'd bind middle button, but with a four directional scroll wheel it seems WoW is stubborn about recognizing it clicking.

Covers all the standard stuff (although the V key is rarely used!)

Ended up basing it on my FPS setup as the keys are kind of similar in function, always had sniper rifle on q, rockets on f, flak on r etc
