Soloing Garr

Soloing Garr

Well, I spent the morning in MC playing around a bit. Able to sneak to Garr by soloing a surger, and annihilator, and using an invis pot to run past giants.

With getting there covered, I'm wondering what the gear req's are to actually solo Garr. I only had time for one attempt on Garr, and accidently pulled a dog, so results are skewed, as I got feared and annihilated.

I'm in mostly kara/badge gear, and the adds are barely dealing damage over the top of block, so an autoblocker purchase is in my future soon.

Other concerns include, how hard Garr hits, how long it would take the adds to die, how to deal with immolate from adds, and how to deal with dispell from garr tearing off seals/righteousness/sanctuary.

I'm thinking about trying out the old Warlords darkmoon card with full reckoning to provide approximately 1k heal a minute, which would certainly help in the early stages of the fight.

Anyone else tried it? Have input? Etc etc? I "believe" it is viable, if difficult and req'ing a very specific gear suit stressing BV+BR+avoidance.

Tanked, sure, but did you solo him?

the problem with garr would be killing him before all of his adds died - i can't see it happening. Remember that if all of his adds die, it's over, so make sure you go into it iwht that frame of mind.

Update! After a successful 5 man of garr and geddon, posting my findings and issues I had with above armory gear or approximate.

Adds are hitting for approx 400-500, so, close to fully blockable w/o sanct for me, easy for others.

Dispel-seems to grab seal first, so not too hard to stick sanct/fury on first and stack some junk buffs.

Immolate-Nasty, can be stacked on as when it falls of, multiple adds can put it up at the same time, considerable damage.

Killing adds, Garr gains 12% attack speed ONLY per add killed, so...killing adds=perfectly fine, as Garr doesn't hit much harder and you lose the immolate damage/lost HS charges.

I resisted every knockback from adds dying, one of our members got hit once, and took considerable dmg.

All in all, I'm updating my appraisal of it being possible for a t5 equiv paly tank to: Very Difficult Solo
For a t6 paly tank: Doable...time will tell, as literally just killed Kael for the first time 4 days ago.

After playing around with garr a bit I can confirm after his adds are dead he hits around 750 and hits very fast. (Consuming 5-6 holy shield charges).

And although not 100% positive yet but I think you only get immolated if you get hit, and the point of soloing garr is to not gethit.

His dmg does not increase, his atk speed ups by 72%, which does not consume a full holy shield.

The adds are what immolate, they cast it, I'm planning to roll in with about 50-100 FR to combat the fact that they can simulcast immolates and stack 2-3 of em

I went to MC with a warrior friend of mine because he wanted to try soloing Garr after seeing the video. Eventually when we finally got there I had to help a bit because we weren't really prepared, but I did learn quite a bit from this exprience. Firstly to do this you definately need to bring healing potions and something else that heals like tubers or health stones or whatever. When the adds explode it adds quite a bit of damage so you need to be able to survive those and possibly get lucky and resist a few. If you survive the adds phase you should be pretty much home free if you can stop yourself from falling asleep.

Secondly don't let some silly pallydan get aggro first so that when the mobs are hitting you they're all in front you so you can block etc. Wink Also I'd say you need very good gear for this. The fight takes so long that passive uncrushability or extremely close (so you don't get owned in adds phase, tho we do have the advantage of LoH and bubble+bandage) is pretty much required. The warrior had between 18k and 19k armor, didn't ask exactly how much. When all the adds we're dead Garr hit him for about 50-80 with 580 block value, basically not being enough to not take any damage, but being enough to survive long term if you keep drinking healing pots. With demo shout he took no damage, but we don't have that luxury. Also bringing a weapon with battlemaster helps somewhat, even though the heals don't happen that often.

P.S. When you get to the tunnel that goes forward how can you avoid the dog there while waiting for pot cd?

Well folks, I'm getting close, I've basically theorycrafted it all out after some experience. I'm waiting until the darkmoon faire comes back to get my warlords deck, but then I'm headed in. I just got my geddon binding a week ago, so I'm super excited.

For those of you trying to get there solo, it takes two invis pots, and possibly pursuit of justice. Take a right at first giants, hop down into the gap on the side. Mark pats, then jump down with gehennas on your right and head straight into the lava. Jump up onto the lava platform and await evades, then lavahop your way down, past rag, as far as you can. There is a tiny shelf you can parallel jump your way onto to heal. Mark pats again, then jump out and solo the surger. Invis up, and run straight past everything and hide in the cubby behind the giant packs facing garr. Wait for CD on invis, then do it again to pass giants, solo the two dogs in front of garr, and you're in.

Really looking forward to seeing what you do with this.

Would this be the greatest solo yet?

Just for the record you don't need to solo the two dogs in the Garr room. The way we did it we had to kill the dog in the tunnel, but that's all. If you watch the video made by the warrior you will see the spot where you want to stand, basically almost directly south of the rune and you can just pull Garr there and ignore the two dogs. Should save a bit of time anyway. Good luck with it, tho I'm sure you won't need it! I'm going to try it myself too when I can get a suitable gearset together.
