Blessing of Sanctuary

I'm building up several resistance sets and I noticed the description on this blessing applies to damage from all sources. Does this in any way effect resistance sets?

Hrm, I never considered the fact that BoSanc reduces the damage from spellcasters, but the wording sure implies that.

As far as resistance sets, they are two separate things.

If it functions in the same manner as melee hitting mobs, the damage reduction from BoSanc is applied before mitigation from armor and improved righteous fury -- so in the case of magical attacks, the damage reduction would be applied before any partial resist.

The net result is not a huge chunk in damage reduction. Consider the situation that a melee mob hits for 1000 damage and you have exactly 50% physical mitigation (including improved righteous fury) with BoSanc active. BoSanc would reduce the attack to 920, and the remaining 920 would be reduced to 460 through armor/iRF. If BoSanc were applied after, the 1000 would be reduced to 500 through armor/iRF, and then down to 420 from BoSanc.

The point of all that? Spells typically hit a lot harder than a melee hit, and reducing that damage by 80 before other damage reduction sources is pretty much negligible.

You'd better buff BoK, you'll be able to take more spells in the face ^^

On a resist set, the spell damage his are atleast 2k starting and scale as the fight goes on or you get more adds directed to you.

From a 2k hit, if you are in a full resist set, you will be taking 500'sh damage only, (without spell warding). Now apply the Bosanc before the first hit and you will shave off 20 damage. If the initial hit is 8k however... well stamina beats it handsdown Razz
