How to explain Tankadin to Nubs

I've noticed one or two other posters here with the same problem as i seem to have.

Once in a while (or everytime for me) You run into a group that has no concept of how pally tanking works. They don't understand that i need to take damage and therefore heals to have mana to keep threat. Anytime we have a DPS warrior, he taunts off of me because i have several mobs on me at once. Or i get the same thing with Hunters and their pets.

What i'm looking for is a simple concise way to explain what i need from the group to keep from pulling my hair out.

Things like saying "i need to take damage and therefore heals to have mana to keep threat" work sometimes, but i don't know how to explain that having eight things beating on me is not a bad thing.

Anyone have some experience with this sort of thing? I dont' mind having to explain it, i just don't want to have to have it take 20 min every time.

Do i need a Macro?

Really, there's not a whole lot that has to be explained to a group to tank for them: "most of your healing should be on me, don't CC anything unless I say so, AoE whenever possible, and single target DPS should attack the skull" is enough information to get the ball rolling.

If you're grouping with a fixed group of people consistently, just refer them to a beginning tankadin guide or the officer's guide to paladin tanks sometime when they have a few extra free minutes.

1. Explain to people that more damage means more mana to you. Don't explain why, don't go into details about spiritual attunement. If that baffles them, tell them you generate more rage when you take more damage.

2. Explain to them that you are the best class for tanking multiple mobs and that warriors are envious of you for that. Tell them that there is no limit to how many mobs you can keep aggro on.

That being said, often DPS warriors will taunt a mob off of you because they want rage. That's fine. Let 'em. Don't hold it against them. Just keep doing your thing, and don't worry. If you want to be constructive, tell them to taunt off the spellcasters or the mobs that stun. Those will be the ones you have the hardest time. Heck, if you want to be really cool mark the mob that you want taunted off of you so that you can concentrate on the others. That'll likely make you both happy.

I don't run into that many people that have a problem with it any more or don't understand it; prot pallies have run enough 5-mans to get people liking them and understanding them. Here's one way to make it clear: don't use marks on the first couple of pulls and tell your DPS to use AoE as much as they want. That usually opens their eyes pretty quick, especially those warriors; when they hear they can lolwhirlwind to their hearts' content, they are very happy.

I don't tell other people how paladin tanking work. I teach them the bad way.

Means, if they CC when i don't want them to, i break it and bring the mob in the Consecration. If they taunt off me, i taunt off them and possibly BoP them. If hunter's pet have growl on, i ask to take it off and possibly salv the pet.

That's rude but at the end usually they understand how it is.

Putting Salv on the pet is something i started doing, and much to my delight, it stayed there.

BoPing the taunting warrior is actually a funny idea.

I'm more of an asshole it seems. I give them one warning. After that, I tell the healer to not heal them if they are taunting off of me. It won't take many deaths to make them stop taunting or leave the party.

I don't really have to deal with this anymore sicne I only run things with full guild groups now.

As for the pets, if you've given the warrior a 30 minute salvation, the hunter pet will receive the same buff. Most hunters will turn off growl when asked though. It is usually an oversight when they start if they left it on.

Eh, I just pull multiple Heroic Shattered Halls packs.
That normally shuts people up.
