I'm having problems gearing up as a newby LK Tank (level 70)

Hi Smile.
I'm a new protection Tank, read plenty of guides from here & other places, but still I'm having problems with a starter tanking gear.
i have done plenty of quests in Borean Tundra and i only got 1 or 2 items which i can call tanking gear! the rest is DPS plates Confused.
I went to Utgarde Keep, we wiped a few times, altough I'm not lacking the skill (no one else aggroed at all but me all the time) i do lack the gear which caused us to wipe so much.

so my question is, where do i get a good tanking gear for level 70 so i can start tank instances? if i keep relay on quest, it will take a long time until i get a good amount of tanking items.

The Cobalt gear is quite good, although you may not
be able to equip much of it at level 70...and yes, there's
not a lot of drops. You'll depend heavily on blacksmith
armor until you hit 80.

If you've got the money and are starting from nothing,
you could get a smith to craft you the Felsteel pieces.
They have adequate stats, and quite a few sockets.

Get the full Cobalt set. Lots of Defence rating, and a fair bit of Strength and Stamina. Do quests in Coldarra, then go do the three quests in the Nexus, which can replace your shoulders, boots, and gloves (iirc).

Those are pretty much it for the first few levels. There are a couple of pieces in Grizzly Hills (the Ursoc quest chain) and Zul'Drak once you're at 73-74, and Tempered Saronite starts as low as 74 too (belt).

If you have friends, you can 2 and 3 man kara for pieces to supplant dps pieces, but the fastest method is probably just not to do dungeons until the late 70's and 80 when you can get full crafted.

thanks a lot, the Cobalt set is exactly what i was looking for Smile.
my BS is currently on 300, maybe i will skill it to 375 today, if I'm already on it, or just ask a random BS to make me the set (surprisingly it's very cheap!)...

I also want to enchant the entire set, which cheap enchants you recommend? all the guides out there contain expensive ones, but since this set isn't going to last long, i don't want to enchant it for hundreds of gold...

btw, my current shield+1H weapon:
Rod of Poacher Punishment
Plainkeeper Blockade
are there a good replacements for them or they will do? i looked the auction house with no luck....

+12 stamina armor kits will work pretty well for most of your gear while leveling. TBC Str or stats enchants work too.

First time you'll see a good tanking weapon in wotlk is when you get to choose form the ragemane's flipper quest rewards in ZD. Among those the mace is the top choice.

Just use whatever high-DPS weapon you can get your hands on right now. At 74 venture into Zul'Drak and do the Wanted: Ragemane's Flipper quest for a tanking weapon that will last you until you hit 80.

Mace, no competition.

All three are pretty good IIRC; it's not a huge difference. But the mace is the best-designed.

To be precise, the sword has 1 less strength, 0.1 less DPS and 0.34% less combat table coverage. Not earthshaking, and swords are cool.

.24% fewer crits taken too @lvl 74 :-p. That's almost like an additional .24% avoidance
