Quick Judgement Clarification

So I am writing up a post for my guild website and I wanted to double check that what I am saying is exactly correct. I don't think they tend to take me very seriously at times (I have more knowledge than I do experience) and I want to make sure there is nothing for them to contradict.

Basically this is the situation - In raids our prot pally judges light, our ret pallies judge wisdom and I know at least one of our holy pallies judges light...

I want to try to nudge them towards having prot do wisdom, ret do light and holy do justice just to keep their haste buff going. This is assuming all pallies are judging on the same target of course.

The clarification I need is:
I know judgements can be overwritten if another pally judges the same thing. However, will the strongest judgement of Light overwrite a weaker one or is it the most recent one cast that is in effect?

Will a holy pally with a small AP+SP coefficient knock off the judgement of a ret pally? Or will the stronger one stay on? Both specs would have HotC to keep the crit debuff up. Also, if another ret pally has more AP+SP than I do would I be knocking theirs off? Obviously it would be a much smaller difference than a ret versus holy pally.

The healing is kind of trivial on fights without a lot of AoE damage now, but I am thinking this may be more important as we start moving into Ulduar. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

The most recent one sticks iirc.

Holy paladins judging light is doing NEGATIVE raid healing, as they lower the power of the JoL.

Silly recount showing all the JoL healing as theirs, should show it as a negative depending on the power of the JoL it knocked off!

Definitely set out some rules in stone for your fellow paladins. If they deviate from the planned out judgements it is lowering the effectiveness of your raid a little bit.

Also, with the prot pally judging light, assuming he was specced into JotJ (which he had better be), any Holy pally judging Light would screw him over because not only would the JoL debuff change, but JotJ would drop off.

Bad form.

General rule of Thumb:
Ret judges Light based on their higher scaling
Prot judges Wisdom, especially in fights where the mana return from SA and such can be low (I'm looking at you Loatheb)
Holy judges Justice just often enough to keep up their Haste/Crit buff.

Even if you don't go by this, no one should be judging the same thing as the tank, assuming he has JotJ, their judgment will overwrite his and wipe the attack speed debuff right off of the mob.

Edit: Damn, I must really type slow or something...

Don`t know about you guys... But I regularly run with other paladins that pay no mind to what they are judging.

Yet, if we all Judge Wisdom, there will be three debuffs put up on the mob. Nothing is being overwritten. And I assume in the case of Light, the strongest one is going to win out. Though this is just conjecture that would require testing.

Can you check that with what he's using?

I've definitely seen multiple Judgments on bosses, in fact almost every fight because we usually run with 4+ paladins. I was always under the impression that it was because they each had different properties (mine has the added effect of JotJust, and the different ranks of JoLight have different coefficients based on the person judging). I always assumed that it kept them all up, and just used the one with the most powerful effect.

To test this, I took a look at a recent WWS report, and was a bit surprised by what I saw. Take a look at filtered portion of the Thaddius encounter.

<edit> linking with the filter didn't work, so just use the link above and apply the filter:
(spell="judgement" or spell="judgement of light" or spell="judgement of the martyr") and (target="guilliman" or target="thaddius")

You'll see that for the most part, the only person Judging is Guilliman, and the value he's being healed for is constant until his next Judgment, at which point it changes (presumably based on temporary buffs changing). However, at 21:40'29.422 Rawberry (holy) judges, and suddenly the procs drop from 600+ to 400. As soon as Guilliman re-judges at 21:40'35.812, the value goes back up. Note that Guilli's debuff hadn't expired, as he refreshed it 2 seconds before Rawberry judged.

The same thing happens again at 21:40'37.078 when Ufo (another holy paladin) judges. So it is definitely using the value of the most recently applied Judgement of Light debuff.

There are also a couple of weird entries though. For example, from the section where Ufo judges:

What we do is:

Prot (x1) judge wisdom.
Ret (x1) judge light.
Holy (x2) judge justice.

No worries about judgements knocking each other off.

"...and we haven't had a raid boss run away yet!"

That would be loltastic, having a raid boss run away at low HP if you didn't have a anti-fear effect on him Smile
