Number of tanks for Northbeasts25?

Hey. We tried ToC25 today with 2 tanks and the debuff stacks much faster than in 10-man. The tanks died (well, some of the healers died before cause they stood in fire) partially due to enormous dot damage. Does having 3 tanks solve the problem? Is there any use for extra tanks on worms phase? On Icehowl phase?

should be fine with 2 tanks.

no use for more than 2 on the other phases unless the 2 you have are getting killed.

Two tanks are enough. You can BoP your tankbuddy and bubble yourself to clear the bleed dots.

Re: Number of tanks for Northbeasts25?

For the beasties, we found two tanks were plenty. But having an extra tank around with a really hot taunt button isn't a bad idea. First guy is two tankable, things get a little crazy with the two big wormies when they switch spots. Icehowl needs only one tank. Two tanks is enough if you have one that really good at pick up during Jaxx, if not, then go for three and assign one to boss, one to big bitches, and another to the infernals. The infernals are only partially tankable, they will peel off and go explody (and some brain dead dps will blame you for their dying in the fire -_-) and all you can do is wait for them to come back to you. Now, the thing about three tanks on Jaxx, is that if your dps are doing their jobs, you're going to have a mild amount of downtime between big demon bitch phases and infernal phases, which means you'll always have a tank sitting on their ass lawl swinging at the boss, or worse, taunt wars. So, go with two if you can.

I did not know that it is bubblible. Does stoneform remove it as well?

2 tanks, second tank taunts at 2 debuffs, first tank retaunts when his stacks fall off. Neither tank should get higher then 3 stacks which is perfectly heal-through-able

Re: Number of tanks for Northbeasts25?

Depends on healers. If you have 2 healers you can go 2 or 3 buff stacks switching at 33-34s remaining. The second tank would pick up at 3-4 sec. on the buff remaining but it would fade off just before it's reapplied. It takes about 5-6s for the buff to be applied so if you taunt too early you might end with the buff reapplying. If you have 3 healers you can go for 4-5 stacks easy and go for Divine Shield/Blessing of Protection to clear the debuff but you could easyly survive the 10K/s ticks.

The Joumungar beasts are pretty much 2 tank fight aswell with the fire worm tank being content enough to drag around the worm without pointing it at the raid when it spits.

The poison worm tank should take Icehowl first as the other one is probably affected by the fire worm "bad raid damage" debuff. You might go for a third tank for Icehowl if your DPS are sloppy as they get hit by him as he almost always oneshots tanks on the enrage. You might avoid it with a lucky dodge/parry to proc Divine Protection but we had him oneshot the other tank and me on enrages tonight in 25.

2 tanks is fine, we trade at 4 stacks and it's still perfectly healable in 25. It's nice to have a third just in case, but it's in no way required.

Re: Number of tanks for Northbeasts25?

Two tanks is all you need...

...but three makes it easier:
- During Gormok, tanks rotate at 2 stacks, reducing the secondary healing burden

- During Jormungars, you can have a real tank on Acidmaw, and two tanks on Dreadscale. Dreadscale tanks rotate out when they get the burning bile debuff and run around and cure poisoned dps and healers, allowing those people to concentrate on their main tasks

- During Icehowl, you have some backups... have them ready to pop a cooldown and taunt in case of an enraged one-shot kill on the main tank

Re: Number of tanks for Northbeasts25?

Depends on what you are comfortable with.

We currently use 3 tanks. Because we don't have the safety feel for it yet. We've had light attendance and been using a few PUG healers.

Our first night we had 3 tank, rot on 2 stacks. We've since moved it up to 3 stacks. We were also having problems the first week with 1 of the 3 tanks dying way too early into the second event, so having the 'backup' 3rd was needed.

Once we have the confidence that both tanks will be alive consistently, we'll drop it down to 2.
