[10/25] How To: Ulduar

Works for me.

They've changed the amount of time it takes for Ignis' adds to become molten to 10s (from 20s). This makes it fairly easy to solo-tank them to molten without taking too much fire damage:

- Bring them to the corner of fire furthest from the water you'll dunk them in.
- Once they are in the fire, stun them with Hammer of Justice (6s)
- Run to the far side of the fire while they're stunned.
- As the stun is wearing off, hit them with Avenger's Shield (3s daze). They will wander through the fire area, getting to you after about 2s.
- Tank them in the fire for about 1-2s until they become Molten. Note that becoming Molten is a threat drop, so you will need to establish immediate aggro after that.

I found this helpful because our druids love to root these things. Even when they're nowhere near the fire, even when I'm kiting them, even when they're standing next to the squishies in the main raid.

Normal 25 man I started the fight tanking Steelbreaker. Before he can get a Fusion punch off I was hit for:

18k
5k dead....

I was running 43k HP Pool Stats:

26 dodge
19 parry
21 Block

According to my death recount I got a few heals at the start of the fight. Did my healers heal too early? I mean thats pretty hard hits back to back to back.

In my avoid set I have 30 dodge 20 parry and 15 block but I dind't think I would need it for NORMAL mode..

Any ideas? I am not gonna call out my healers if it might have been something I did.

I'd prefer a WWS, but I personally would be looking sideways at your healers. They really shouldn't have let three hits land on you without a heal, even with a parry.

Pretty much negates the first big hit.

Between the above big damage and the death, you gained some Druid hots, some judgement of light heals, but nothing else. It is hard to say if your pally was starting a cast when you got hit for the 19k hit, that just didn't land for some reason before you died. The hits are close enough together that if he had any lag he probably wouldn't have got anything off if he is healing reactively. Your druid didn't swiftmend or cast anything big at you, not sure if he is supposed to or not. Additionally your pallies Holy Shock was on cooldown, he cast it before the first big hit came in.

I don't see anything you could have done differently apart from being fast on the lay on hands button. Shield wall may not have been enough to save you depending on what your healers were about to do in the 2 seconds following your death. Suggest to the healers that they make sure to not heal you reactively would likely be good advice for this fight. Steelbreaker hits for typically around 20k on 10 man, so the damage you had incoming is pretty representative. You did get a bit shafted by RNG with some fast incoming damage that you didn't dodge/parry but that happens and healers need to be on the ball when it does.

Usually when I go 2.2s without a heal and I have a druid *and* a holy paladin on me I tell the healers they need to tighten up. Having hots on you would have saved you there. Although like the guy above me said, you got pretty shafted by the RNG so don't be too hard on them.

Combination of bad luck, possibly questionable decision from Finalgodfury (Flash of Light = WTF?) and no clear input from the Druid.

Could you add one thing to XT about his positioning. If you tank him on the left or right side of the room in between 2 scap piles, the adds only spawn from the opposite side of the room thus giving an amazing amount of time till the adds reach the boss. I know i have seen this info in other spots on this forum but i often reference this post to look stuff up real quick and i am sure it would help someone who hasn't done XT.

Plus this helps give your ranged dps a little bit more time on the heart before turning to the adds.
