chest piece

tough call, i'd say they're about equal.

defender for more avoidance and armor, stoic for stam and threat.

As with EVERY SINGLE PIECE OF GEAR, both are situational.

Stoic for stam and a bit of a threat boost, as has been said... Though you could come close in avoidance with some good gem choices...

Glory for the extra needed avoidance.

One piece is not better than the other all around. Depends on what you need.

(assuming 15-stam gems, seeing as you'd have access to hyjal to get GotD)

Stoic Guardian:

+30 stamina (385 HP talented, with BoK)

-158 Armor (not negligible by a long shot)
-13 Defense Rating (0.65% avoidance)
-13 Dodge Rating (0.6878% avoidance, that's 1.3378% total)

Glory of the Defender is a good item but I think it's the sort of off-set item you leave for someone else's off-spec. Less stamina and less threat than the badge chest and not that much more avoidance. The extra armour is nice though.

I mean if you have it already then great, but I don't think anybody with the Stoic Guardian chest should take it. We have enough crap in our bags as it is and better things to spend DKP on especially when this item could make dps warrior or a dps/healing paladin very happy. Chances are they'd use it more than you anyway.

What gem choices does you propose for the stoic guardian then?=) If i would fill whe set bonus that is.

What usual gems/heroic gems should i use?(dont ahve access to BT gems since my guild broke down and im in a less progressing one now)

My Stoic chest is filled with Solid Stars (12 STA).

On the occasions where I want to get the set bonus, I usually use an 8 Dodge Rating gem for Red (or possibly a 5 Spell Damage/ 6 STA purple gem if I really want to max my STA), a 4 Def Rating / 6 STA green gem for yellow, and a Solid Star for blue.

However, I usually prefer to just go with all Solid Stars. If you're uncrushable then you don't really *need* the Dodge and Def (and the 5 Spell Damage should be negligible compared to your weapon), so you'd be trading away the one stat you care most about (STA) for a bunch of things that you don't really want or need. Yeah, you get some free points because you capture the bonus, but it doesn't make up for what you're giving up - imho. Smile

No, the hit does not nearly make up for the spell damage. Here's some math:

http://www.failsafedesign.com/maintankadin/viewtopic.php?t=3678

There's not an exact hit -> +dam conversion there, but for an early T6 Tankadin I'd say 1 hit rating is probably a little less than .5 +dam for threat purposes. Hit rating applies to melee only, spell hit rating applies to spells only. Yes this sucks for melee/caster classes.
