The other good thing is his hard enrage is really loose so you can have a bunch of hybrids throw on their healing gear (even if it's crappy) and do him with 4 "healers" and still down him.
That way you only have to worry about getting behind the blocks and not having people get hit by the cleaves/swipes/breath.
the first time we tried it we did 5 attempts with no frost resist gear. We then spent 30 minutes and got everyone 1 pc (the chest) and with 245 (aura + the 1 item) it took the frost dmg down to around 700 dmg per tick.
We did not have a CoH priest though, and I suspect if you have one you wouldn't need any FrR gear at all, but we found it quite helpful in assisting us, particularly because at the time many were below 16k hp. We don't use it anymore though, as most everyone has 20k or upwards buffed and we regularly have a priest. _________________ Submit to freedom or be destroyed.
My guild opts to do it with 2 pieces per player... helps the healers a lot when you are resisting like 75% of the aura...
But I'm sure it could be done without the gear, but the strain on the healers is quite large... _________________ Erugar - 80 Paladin - <Canadian Dogsled Team> - Korgath-US

We use full 3-piece pretty much every time, but we're doing 10-man with 2 healers and 25 with 5. _________________ This isn't the "Offtankadin" forum.
Knaughty of the Nightfall.
Tanking 101 and Advanced tanking
tank is the one who need the less FR
then, it all depends about your healeurs :
-2 or 3
-good/reactive one or lazy one
-overgear or under-equiped (vs the dps & tank)
worse case : 3pieces may compensate do your try, if dps die too much --> time for some farm
having a purple resist gear is still better than a green
