Slayer of the Lifeless vs. Red Sword of Courage

I'm kind of wondering if I should still attempt to go back and get RSoC for wiggle room on defense.

We had two Slayers drop last night so I have one as does our warrior tank.

Thoughts?

If you're over the defense minimum, then you're generally better off using the Slayer over the RSoC. The dodge IMHO outweighs the other stats on the RSoC.

I've been reading a lot about how defense is the 'best' mitigation stat to stack because of the way DR's are split up. Does that mean that the RSoC is then better overall avoidance? Does that rule only apply when your dodge% is quite high?

I think someone did some analysis of different combinations of defense + dodge with the current DR mechanics and discovered that the highest avoidance came from approx Defense == Dodge. Defense did give higher percentages, but the DR on parry and miss is faster than on dodge. This only applies once you've hit uncrittable, so that would be a total of 1200 or so defense+dodge. I haven't been able to get that much dodge yet, so I'd venture that the the Slayer is a slightly better option.

Oh, and it slings over the back, can't beat that. Laughing
