Quick Tips for Getting Answers

Here's some quick tips to help make sure you get the help you need from the fine folks of this forum. Feel free to respond with any tips of your own.

Be detailed. Try to clarify exactly what you need help with. If you're unsure about something, be clear about what you're unsure about. Be sure to include any extra details that might impact the decision (loot rules, for example).

Be complete. If you're asking for a comparison of items, link the items in your post. If you use a Wowhead link, it makes it even easier for people to help you, as this forum is set up for mouseover links (like this: http://www.wowhead.com/?item=22691). Try to avoid sending people searching to Wowhead or your armory just for one piece of gear.

Be concise. The idea isn't to give your life story. Obviously, you can if you want to, but if you're just looking for a quick answer any extraneous details are just going to complicate things.

Include a link to your armory. There's always a chance you're overlooking something, and having the ability to look up your armory will greatly help people in pinpointing it if that's the case. I personally recommend using a site like Armory Lite.

This is a new point that some people could use a refresher on.

Say Thanks. You may not know this but this forum is frequented by a small subset of the Maintankadin community. Make sure you pop back in after someone responds to your thread and say thanks if it helped or ask your question in a new way if you still need help. It goes a long way to making the people who spend their time here want to come around more often and be there as a resource for you.

One thing I was look at when giving advice is what content the player is looking to do, which often isn't said. This should be covered in the Be detailed.
