Yes, the 4pc t5 set bonus is awful.

The 100 block you get is only on the first block.

You are anyway assumed to block any hit that isn't completely avoided, no matter what your block % is.

Set bonuses on T5 are quite awful honestly, the set itself is good but you shouldn't bother at all for the bonuses.

Yah, thats why I divided the 100 by 2.
I keep myself right around uncrushablity so I don't have much of that block falling off the table. Regardless, for a 2.5 atk wpn speed enemy your going to block about twice in a 10 second interval.

Bosses have about 2.0 atk speed, not 2.5

However, the improvement in armor from T5 to aldor it's already worth more than 100 damage every 10 seconds.

still WTB math...but missing a little something...its only for the first 6 seconds so theres a chance it could do nothing...Assuming a 50% chance to block and 1 enemy with a 2.0 wpn speed the chance of 0 blocks in 3 swings against the player is 12.5%.
So on average -87.5 damage every 10 seconds in this case of one average enemy...if there is 2 enemies it is only a 1.5% chance of doing nothing or an average of -98.5 damage every 10 seconds.

This is a question more of block vs. dodge. There are situations where your 3% block and extra 80 some odd block value will be more valuable than the 2% dodge.

You likely know what situations these are as well as the rest of us do. Use the appropriate piece of gear accordingly.

I have the set bonus estimated at 35 BV for one enemy with a 2.0 atk speed with 50% block...it would be about 40 BV for 2 enemies or more.

Assuming all sockets are socketed with 12 sta for argument's sake... (and using 35 BV as the value of the set bonus)

I'm slightly leaning towards Aldor being better...but its really not that much...and for 100 badges (although I like Stoicism better than T5 Chest)

How do you figure that 33 dodge rating and 36 stamina counts at anything but a huge upgrade? ...unless you're still having to worry about uncrushability.

Also, the block value equivalent of the set bonus goes down, not up, the more mobs you're tanking. Sure, the probability of the charge being used goes up, but the fraction of hits gaining the bonus goes way down.

Honestly, when would you ever use the bonus...on bosses there's probably not many more useless stats than block value for pally, well people argument that it's great stat on aoe tanking trash, which might be true, but since this bonus affests only 1 block, so you tank 20 mobs and "ZOMG I LOL BLOCKED THI ONE ATTACK OF 40 THAT CAME FULLY LOL LOL" it's complete waste, can't really think of a place where it would be useful. The gain of 43 dodge is awesome, and as long as it wont make you crushable, it's free, seriously,there's nothing you lose by dropping that set bonus.

Ok I think this is right:
1 enemy 2.5 atk speed 50% block
Block Value (100)*1 enemy prob. 87.5% avg.*reciprocal of avg. # of blocks is 1/2= Average BV=100*.875*(1/2)= 43.75 BV

2 enemies each 2.5 atk speed 50% block
100*.985*1/4=24.625 BV

100*.998*1/6=16.63 BV

100*.999*1/8=12.49 BV

Those are approximations. (yes I know about Redoubt that pretty much covers Holy Shield in multiple target situations (expected # of blocks 8 with 4 2.5 atk speed mobs), yes it'll give you 5% less block if u have the block libram on, but it wouldn't make a huge difference in the numbers.
