How do i convince a guildie to throw away suneater?

Never throw away a Sun Eater.

Even if you're not going to use it to tank you should at least save it to pull out when you hear a Warrior whining about running Heroic Mechanar 50 times and not getting one to drop.

In my opinion, best method of teaching anyone is to direct them here.

If that IS the Pally ... He's quite lacking in defense and avoidance/mitigation.

While he isn't currently logged out with a weapon, I don't even think a SE would bring him to uncrushable/uncrittable.

I REALLY REALLY hope that's his PvP gear. Like ... REALLY hope.

Yes, it does have more avoidance... but it should only be used in a situation where you have a substantial threat lead, and can sacrifice the spelldamage for avoidance.

Enchanting a SE with +40sd seems like a waste, IMO. Should put Mongoose on it, and whip it out for phase 2 of Prince, for example.

Throw it away? Are you nuts? It is the weapon with most avoidance afaik.

Unless he is maintanking something and need to build threat, he SHOULD be using Sun Eater. I used it in TK/SSC when offtanking, as long as I have some time to build threat (my target isn't the first), I would use the Sun Eater and max avoidance gear, so the healers will need minimum heals on me. My blocks and judges in around 100 spelldamage still give me enough threat to hold the mob while dps goes all out (after they killed some other mob first).

And you can always switch weapon in the middle of the fight for more threat.

yes, that's the pally. though if you check his armory now, you'll see a nice shiny new Fang of the Leviathan.
