Why so stubborn?

It took Druid's roughly four years and 2 expansions to finally get a 'Out of Combat' Rez spell. Something, that by it's very definition and function, could not actually effect game balance.

All so they could make Druid's "different" from the other healers.

The people at Blizzard are just that. People. They are flawed, like everyone else. Sometimes they get something in their heads, and they just stick with it "Because". Maybe they honestly believe it a good idea. Maybe they honestly think it would dilute the abilities too much. Maybe they just don't want their own 'vision' of X class or Y role to be changed.

Call it "Developer Ego" if you want.

(And Ironically, GC defended the new OoC rez for druids just recently, using the same argument Druid's themselves have been using since release, the same argument that has been shot down by Blizzard since release... talk about head on desk frustration/relief)

What i particularly dislike is the way they answer questions. Most of the time their answers are vague, unclear, and don't actually answer the question asked. The reasoning behind their decisions is kind of like that too. They don't clearly explain their thought process, just say this is what we think. If they actually explained the reasons behind certain decisions clearly it would go a long way I think even if people don't agree. I know it's their game and all but I think most of us have been shelling out our 15 bucks/month long enough to at least get a clear answer.

The Vagueness to answers is easy to explain. They can't actually promise much, if anything. Saying "We'll do X" then NOT doing X? That generates a HUGE shit storm from the players. Giant, Humongous, Colossal backlash from the players. Doesn't matter if X was a horrible idea, or wasn't possible within the game itself, or would just take too long to do. BOOM, instant hate explosion from the players.

So they 'play it safe' that way, by bringing out the lawyer speak and never committing to anything but things that already exist.

Why they don't explain their own reasoning very often? It's 10 million to 1. It's VERY easy to warp/twist/bend any argument, one way or the other, to suit your own needs while under such a barrage.

I'm confident any Developer at Blizzard, could sit down and argue coherently about any of their design decisions, with any one of us at a time. Maybe they're right, maybe they're wrong, maybe everyone is right/wrong... but you could have a sensible debate.

It's never 1 to 1 though. Or 10 to 1. Or 100 to 1.

Literally, THOUSANDS upon THOUSANDS of conflicting view points, ideas and arguments.

You can see the effect from just about any good discussion thread with blue interaction. More then half the Blue posts are the blue poster ensuring their words aren't being taken out of context, or manipulated or misquoted and misunderstood. The amount of actual design debate is minimal compared to the amount of "I didn't say THAT Mad ".

To top it all off, there is still a little "Ego" to toss into it all. "Hey, If my idea's are so horrible, why am I a designer for the most popular game around and not YOU?" Razz

Seriously, never discount pride.

If you can get the 10+ seconds of out of combat and casting required to actually rez someone in Arena...

A) You wouldn't need to actually Rez anyone to beat people that terrible
B) You would never actually DIE to people THAT terrible

Even the shittiest of shit, 'afk 4 welfare epicz' can interrupt a OoC Rez Razz

None of that explains the previous 3 years when Arena's did not EXIST either. Razz
