Does this mean no more spell power weapons?

Hammer of the Righteous (Tier 11) changed to - Hammer the current target and up to 2 additional nearby targets, causing 3 times your main hand damage per second as Holy damage.

Not sure if this is enough though would like to see how this works out on the PTR since i still do not have a beta key

It has been said here that 1 SD equals roughly .63 TPS on live.

To replace a current standard tankadin mace like the the S2 SD Mace with a "regular tank weapon" like The Sun Eater would change threat like so:

-225 spell damage

225 * .63 = 141.75 TPS lost

Now subtract the Gavel's DPS from The Sun Eater's, then multiply by 3 for the ability and divide by 6 for the cooldown (or just divide by 2)

83.4 - 41.2 = 42.2 / 2 = 21.1 TPS gained

For a grand total of a 120.65 TPS loss. Am a missing something here?

You also need to look at the difference in spellpower weapons come WoTLK:
in live, all spelldamage weapons are set to 41.5 DPS and sub 2.0 speeds. Spelldamage on weapons is calculated by first finding what the weapon dps would be, taking 41.5 and multiplying this result by 4.
(ie every 1dps sacrificed = 4 spelldamage)

In WOTLK there seems to be a different formula whereby a certain % of weapon DPS is sacrificed, and the spellpower gained per dps sacrificed changes with item quality. This means that epic spellpower weapons are far far better than green spellpower.

Formula:
Sacrificed DPS = 42.5% of weapon DPS.
Spellpower gained per dps sacrificed:
Green = 5.5
Blue = 6
Epic = ~7

The Titansteel Guardian gains 8 spellpower per dps sacrificed - this may be an oversight froom old itemization formulas and explains why this seems to be the best tanking weapon so far.

From previous calculations of mine (on an old build, so numbers are slightly off) we gained 0.55 TPS per spellpower, and 2 TPS per weapon DPS. (updated numbers would be good but I don't think they'll change the huge discrepancy)
On a spellpower weapon, we therefore gain 3.8 TPS per DPS sacrificed, over 2 TPS per weapon dps....

Thus, HOTR damage needs to be doubled before we will use melee tanking weapons over spellpower weapons.

Okey, I don't get it. How is the new formula? Still normalized? Old: ([Weapon DPS] + [Attack Power]/14) * 120% * 2,5 [Normalization Multiplicator]

New: ([Weapon DPS] + [Attack Power]/14) * 300% * 2,5 [Normalization Multiplicator] ?

edit: Okey, I think I understand now: ([Weapon DPS] + [Attack Power]/14) * 3

Now, what is the difference to the last build, except other wording?

It seems to indicate no difference at all from the previous build. Just that the formula for damage has been made more transparent.
