Tier gear should be MT focused??

We've already got paladins MTing the tier-7 content currently in the beta. These players are using either level 70 epics or level 80 blues with some crafted epics. This gear appears to be inferior to the set pieces anyway, and yet paladins are still tanking the content.

If that observation is incorrect, please correct me, because the next part of my argument depends on it.

So, assuming that a paladin gets their set and off-set pieces, tier-7 tanking will become much easier and tier-8 tanking will be the goal. I don't really expect tier-8 bosses to hit so much harder that the avoidance difference between classes is going to unbalance the survival of the classes.

TL;DR - We're already tanking tier-7 bosses in pre-raid gear, raid gear (set pieces included) makes it easier, tier-8 shouldn't be such a step up that set gear differences hinders us.

Yeah, we all love avoidance, but is it really as bad as it sounds?

Well the great thing about avoidance is that it too pushes regular hits off the attack table, meaning you block a higher percentage of the swings that are left, up to 100% obviously. We don't just have block value, but also block rating on our gear if I remember right.

In any event, I don't think designing our tier gear for AoE tanking makes any sense on any level whatsoever. So this leaves me with some questions that are all pretty related...

1. Did they just mess up on their first pass of our gear?
2. Is this actually good MT gear that we'll understand when we see a polished talent tree?
3. Is GC smoking crack when she says we had almost identical stats to a warrior?
