goggle nerf = buff?

We recently made some changes to items that grant stealth detection. We felt these items provided a necessary advantage in competitive PVP and forced players to use lower level equipment even when more powerful items were available to them.

This item can no longer be used in the Arena:
Ultra-Spectropic Detection Goggles

We have removed stealth detection from the following items:
All epic engineering goggles

Maybe if they take that out, they'll add stats elsewhere?

I don't see any PVE nerf there, all they did was take the stealth detection off the goggles, and when was the last time you were able to benefit from stealth detection in pve?

I think those are invisible and not stealthed. Which is why detect invisibility works on them.

Stealth detection would be nice on the rogues toward the end of Shattered Halls.

the detection helped here are there with a few mobs in instances and such. They annoying thing is it's another nerf of engineering due to pvp, and, they are not compensating for the loss of ability on the goggles.

You weren't sacrificing any itemization to get the stealth detection on the goggles to begin with though. If they added stats to them, they'd be making them a higher ilevel which wouldn't make any sense.

I fully acknowledge that engineering is lackluster for most classes in PvE, but losing stealth detection has virtually no impact on that.

And engineering does have its perks, I enjoy looting a couple hundred gold worth of mats of Flame Levi.

You sure there's no itemization tradeoff?

Still it's the whole nerf for pvp that is getting really irritating. Why doesn't blizz just do f'ing premades for pvp and get it over with, instead of 5 years of nerfs that will result in premades eventually?

Our engineer looted a http://www.wowhead.com/?item=44499 on Wednesday. Sold it for 2.7k and split the proceeds 10 ways.

We give him shit for being an engineer (resto shaman), but he has so much fun with it and is so effective otherwise that it's not a big deal. Rocket boot + parachuting tauren over Mimrion frogger is hilarious as hell.
