Can someone help figure out were I am at and what I need to get to the 102.4%

My guild is doing kara also right now, I havent made past Mor in 4 attempts. I main tank in there. Im also confussed on my guild gm. Are you supposed to get gear from kara for 5-man h-heroics? Or opposite?

Ant help would greatly appreciated I would like to get to be oneof the better tankadins on my server.

I really love this guide as i have been a mage for 3 years and am just learning about being a tank and gearing. I was wondering about this being updated for some of the things from 2.3. Any chance that might happen?

The section that needs updating the most (due to only drops being listed) is the back.

I'd suggest the following be added (includes some previous suggestions too):

Back:
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=29777 - Cloak of the Valiant Defender (l68 quest)
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=24253 - Cloak of Eternity (l69 crafted)
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=27550 - Ironscale War Cloak (l70, heroic Slave Pens)

This would give people a couple easy options to grab some defense
The Valiant Defender is similar to the Bogstrok but questable.
The Eternity is crafted.

I've recently hit 70 (just last week) and did my first ever instance run as MT last night (getting the 3 KZ fragments for attunement). Things went well despite threat meters being buggered and I was able to hold aggro well even against veteran Karazhan raiders.

When asking with the guild leader (a prot pally who's been the guild's MT as long as he's been playing) about how to gem my gear: he stated I shouldn't even bother with uncrushability until I get my HP higher. He stated that 12K (unbuffed) is baseline for tanking KZ, and I should focus on that first.

Just wondering what others have to say about this? Is he correct? I've never been sure of which to focus on. I'm uncritable (which was surprisingly easy to achieve) at the moment, but far from uncrushable. Based on his comments, I re-socketed some of my gear, replacing +3 DEF +4 STA gems with +9 STA gems.

My current stats (including the gem changes) are as follows according to the Armory (since I think my sig is buggered):

  • 10,387 HP
  • 11,650 Armor
  • 497 Defense
  • 14.11% Dodge
  • 15.88% Parry
  • 15.07% Block

It really just depends on the situation... Having a big enough HP buffer but being crushable is certainly something that can work, it's just more demanding on the healers. If the people you're tanking for are far above your gear level, then yes, just focus on spelldamage and stamina until you're at a comparable level of gear to the rest of your guild. You most likely won't be tanking anything harder than Prince phase 2, and good healers can carry an undergeared tank through that pretty easily. Focusing on stamina and spelldamage will allow you to produce enough threat and have a large enough HP buffer to do your job, until the rest of your stats catch up... And they will, as you get raid loot.

The truth is your HP is raising slower than your other tanking stats.

So you are short for tanking in KZ because of Stamina but you will soon be overgeared for the 70's content. Just make you think your Effective Health efforts are only useful for new content...

If not already, what you can do is getting these reputation items:

>R< http://www.wowhead.com/?item=29176 – Crest of the Sha'tar (l70, Sha'tar Exalted)

>R< http://www.wowhead.com/?item=29184 - Timewarden's Leggings (l70 Keepers of Time rep)

>R< http://www.wowhead.com/?item=29127 – Vindicator's Hauberk (l70, Aldor Rep)

With good enchant and gems, this got me past 11K HP unbuff and close to 12K HP with BOK.

Our warrior MT has less HP and Defense than you. He almost survive Midnight a few minutes. I think it would have been possible with 2 healers on him.

re:

Firstly, I just wanted to thanks everyone for such a lively and intelligent community. As a new paladin tank (I JUST hit 70, less than 10 hours /played at the level) this site has been a wonderful resource!

http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Silver+Hand&n=Gina

My best in-game friend, a holy priest who I've been leveling with exclusively since level 40 (as prot and holy) and I plan on doing a server jump in a few days, as the foundation of a rebuilding attempt on her dad's guild to get them into Kara. We'll have a bear MT, and I'll be OTing it. Nobody other than the 3 of us has any raid experience whatsoever. I'm really excited about this challenge, and so I want to make sure I'm the best I can be when we start, which, given the short schedule means I want to try and gear up ASAP!

I've been following the guides, and even as fresh to 70 as I am, have almost everything on them. We're working on farming up a FotC for me now, we've gotten SH down to ~40 minute runs. As a warrior main, I have to say pally tanking is SO much more fun! The biggest issue I'm running into is my Health Pool. I'm pretty happy with my Threat and Mitigation, but really feel I need about 1200 more HP before I walk into Kara. Obviously, I can "expensify" a few enchants or gems, but even best-case scenario it's only another 300HP or so.

What gear can I replace that will give me a significant HP boost? The tear is a glaring choice, as would be an HP trinket. As a JC, would Living Ruby Serpent be a wise choice? ~350 more HP and a nice on-use threat boost sounds good. Any other suggestions to help me push to 12K unbuffed?

Oh, and at what point could i start heroics? Every single 5-man the 2 of us have run so far has been a ridiculously easy joke. We clear SH in less than 40-minutes if we can find competent DPSers by pulling 2 packs at once. My healer is REALLY good, and we work stupidly well together (30 levels will do that I guess) but she's concerned about healing them (even though she's already at 1200 +heal and almost 200 MP/5 while casting), and I'm really concerned about those big hits. For warriors, we say 12K/12K/490, does the same apply to paladins?

Thanks for any new help, and all the help in the past. Sorry for the novel, I'm just really excited about this whole thing!
