Pre-raid Tanking: Theories, Goals and the Gear to Get There

Would request consideration for the following shield:

Good defense, one of the ONLY shields pre-raid that I can find that actually has Block Rating on it. Slap a +Stam chant on there and you're golden. Good shield for the climb to 70 in 5-mans and working towards uncrushable.

It is a great shield for working toward 70. I would still upgrade it with the shield from Shadow Lab ( http://www.wowhead.com/?item=27887 )or better yet the one from Botanica ( http://www.wowhead.com/?item=28316 ) once they drop for you. Then work on your Sha'tar rep to get the Exalted reward shield as soon as you are able (with a prot pally AOE tanking botanica at well over 2000 rep per run in about 45 minutes per run, it's quick if you get a good group and esp. if you have a priest MC the Mender's and put the spellpower buff on you and all the casters). http://www.wowhead.com/?item=29176
After that, imho it's the shield from kara or gruul's lair that will upgrade you, while the shield from heroic badges isn't that much of an upgrade comparitively because of the stamina trade-off (just my opinion).

This is IMO the best tanking sword for pally since it is the only 1 that gives block rating, spell dmg and a lot of stam at the same time.

Arena 2 season mace http://www.wowhead.com/?item=32963 is the best till you get to the one off Archimonde. Just can't beat the spell hit and the spell dmg on it along with how much stamina it keeps. Since getting it rank 1 consecrate has been just fine again.

I really wish more people would read this, cutting down alot of the 'Is my gear good enough' threads >.<, could they start getting deleted after a couple weeks, or month of post date?

Just seems to be cluttering the forum a little bit. It'd be nice if people started using tankpoints a little more! Calculator is great for checking status with certain upgrades.

IMO, you should add http://www.wowhead.com/?item=32660 into the weapon category, I hold it as the best Paladin tanking weapon, of course coupled with +40 spell damage.
