Regarding: Fear / Silence / Mana Burn

Hello. I've been thinking about this topic lately and wanted to present it to the Maintankadin community for their opinion. We know that since WoLK has been released one of the main objectives of the developers is to make the tanks more or less "equal" in tanking encounters. We also know that fear, silence and mana burn are all mechanics that put us at a disadvantage as paladin tanks.

As such GC stated a long time ago regarding silence and mana burn in particular...

I have survived tanking silencing fights, mana burning fights, and fearing fights so far, dont see how its going to change.

So i might need to mana pot (kaz'rogal) or use fear wars (archimonde) but its never stopped me in the past and i dont see how its about to. And with TPS the way it is now, unless they silence me off the bat and HoTR misses or its a chain silence, my threat shouldnt be an issue.

I think one of the biggest issues with being silenced for a long time in BC was that it prevented us from casting holy shield which often lead to our demise due to crushing blows, thankfully without crushingss now it's not a huge issue. (Also, warriors can't use shouts or taunt when silenced (mocking blow still works though) and frost DKs are pretty screwed too).
Mana burn is barely an issue now with us being able to regen it so quickly, BoSanc, JoW, Replenishment and next patch an almost constant divine plea Very Happy

Remember that if we have excess mana regen (like it seems to me we do at 3.1), having that boss mana burn Us, instead of mana burning some healer, can be much more beneficial.

I regen mana faster than holy paladin.
He does more good with small extra mana than me.

If that mana burning doesn't cause excess spike in damage intake, it may also be a good thing for us to be in a fight.

i.e. I can do my full rotation except maybe consecrate with that mana burn?
I can't care less.

Healers notice they don't lose as much mana?
They'll be overjoyed.

Silence is a bit bitch though, wish we could still do all hotr, shor, holy shield through silence.

Also keep in mind that we are almost unaffected by disarm effects, while warriors get completely demolished by them.

1&2 are trash and thus I don't care
3&4 are both old content and shouldn't hit the MT anyhow.

the point here is the future, only a few examples of what is already here are posted
but what would you do with a manaburning, fearing boss (something like a shadowpriest)? you loose your mana, you have to depend on other players to dispell you, and if that shadowpriestboss has silence as well you are the worst joice as pala, thats the problem here, what if an encounter is HARD and has something that only we paladins are affected by?

You seem to be misinterpreting what GC said. They did not say those mechanics would be absent in wrath, they said they would not target the tank and they would not be integral parts of encounters. CCable trash in one instance does not constitute integral to an encounter. They have kept their word and I know they aren't stupid enough to break it, there's no benefit to breaking it.
