What seems really sad to me is that in the early days of TBC beta they had the changes where they should have been to allow paladins to be equal in functionality with warriors as tanks. Warriors who felt their role was threatened in raid encounters and in general cried and moaned about their horrible fate (as much about their own talent changes as about the paladin changes, actually) and the result was nerfing paladin prot.
Since then there have been a few other changes, but realistically they had it right before (the stam was there, the damage mitigation talent balance was there, etc.) and just haven't gotten around to getting back to that.
It's disappointing, really.
In the meantime, regardless of how many times many of us pull off great control of multiple adds in aoe tanking situations on trash or boss adds (the role we are primarily, if not entirely, relegated to fill, which seems fine with some people . . . ) there still is pressure against us bein prot or being brought to raids at all.
Being forced into a niche/specialist role to the extent it seems we are is pretty unpleasant. Maybe that pressure isn't universal and some guilds run differently (I get the impression Psiven does more MTing than many of the rest of us get to, for example). Maybe I'm just bitter at my own particular situation and don't realize how it could be somewhere else. It seems to me that our situation is too analagous to if they made warlocks so they were only useful against demons and elementals for their banishes and damage, and for soulstones, healthstones, and imp buff. Possessing the skills, but lacking the tools needed to perform - that's how I feel.
