realistic DP uptime?

buff lasts 15 seconds, refreshes on hit, okay, what about bosses like, noth, or gothik? or sapph air phase? buff wears off.... will we have to reapply DP when its off CD and then let it resume auto refreshing?

what if we take longer than 15 seconds to do the next pull? which in ulduars case is most likey since we are supposed to be setting up CC targets and such?

idk,, very bandaid if u ask me,,,

didnt GC say recently they might take out SA from base, and give prot and ret a talent deep in the tree that gives SA back?

I share pretty much all of your concerns on this subject Sad

A couple things:

On multi mob trash pulls, you're unlikely to go oom if you got sanctuary up, I find just hitting DP on cooldown now between pulls while tanking is more than sufficient.

For the Goth blink, etc, issues: You'll have more than a minute of 'face time' before they leave, of which DP will be off cooldown then.

I don't see it as too much of a concern. Of course, PTR testing will reveal it if truly is or not. Remember that the first wave of notes are less than 24 hours old. A lot will change between now and live.

....but what does it matter if DP occasionally drops when we're not in combat? There aren't any nerfs to our mana situation (which is pretty good as is tbh), so this is still strictly an improvement to our situation right now.

About SA, he said imagine it worked like that to get an idea of the effect they wanted, but that was not the fix they had in mind.

And as for DP I don't think it's going to be a problem.
Taking your own examples...
You pull sapphiron and activate DP. The 1 minute cooldown starts. About 45 seconds later he'll fly into the air, and 15 seconds later your DP will wear off. But, since it's now off of cooldown, you're all set to toss it up again.
The same applies to Heighan and Noth (if it even drops between phases). Gothik P2 it'll probably drop without being refreshed.

I honestly don't expect to have to worry about losing DP in Ulduar. There are very few situations as a tank or offtank where you cannot bring yourself to hit something for 15 seconds.

Assuming you happen to fire divine plea right as your opponent leaves combat, you'll have 15 seconds of time while the cooldown has already started and the effect is running. This means you'll have a worst-case 45 second layover before it can be reactivated it, which is in fact the best case for the status quo.

If you have a boss with 30 seconds fight time, 30 seconds out time (such as Gothik) you're looking at firing plea about 5 seconds before your turn starts, refreshing all through the 30 seconds, and then letting it tick out. It will be inactive for 10 seconds before coming off cooldown - during which time you're not expending mana.

It seems like a system where you could potentially do yourself a lot of harm (firing it accidentally while not in combat), but in practice it sounds like it shouldn't be a problem at all to keep it active. The question is, will there be some mana intake reduction made elsewhere?

Last 15sec. CD is 1min.

Lets assume the average trash pull takes ~20sec to complete. Lets also assume that each Ulduar trash pull takes at maximum 20sec. to complete as well.

0.00 - Divine Plea cast (CD begins) about to pull
0.05 - Pull begins. DP begins auto refresh.
0.25 - Pull ends. DP begins o expire.
0.40 - DP expires.
1.00 - Next pull is set up, DP cast.
1.05 - Pull begins. etc.

As you learn pulls you will likely be moving to the next pack before DP fully expires.

Also, the talent says 'when you hit a target' which imply that even casting your avengers shield to start the next pull could refresh your DP.

Even if it provides 80% uptime of DP on trash packs, I'm sure most will be quite excited compared to the previous. You will still have 100% uptime on bosses.

Using Saph as your 'worst case' currently. Air phase is every 45sec., AS has a 30sec cd. You will always be able to cast it upon running back in to pick up saph therefore renewing your buff before it expires (Air phase last less than 15sec.).

Are you kidding me?

SA is still working youre still getting mana back from it,

DP is going to have a 100% uptime as long as you hit something at least once every 15 seconds. If you cant hit something for 1 minute youll still be able to recast DP every minute. PluS BOS,

wheres the beef?

Sanctuary may well not give mana back any more.
