Maintankadin and the Future

Hey all. Just wanted to drop a quick announcement to let you all know what's coming up over the next few weeks.

Item 1: With expansion release coming up, we're going to start phasing out the WotLK forum and letting everything get back to business as usual. For now, we ask that any new posts regarding content available in Patch 3.0 be posted in their respective forums. We'll start moving existing threads along those lines out of the WotLK forum over the next few days. Once Wrath is released, the WotLK forum will be done away with entirely, and the posts there will either all be dumped into one forum or moved to an archive of some sort.

Item 2: Stickies will also need to be updated for the expansion. We're going to start looking them over to get an idea for how accurate they are in Post-3.0, pre-WotLK content. Any outdated stickies will be unstickied, so if you're the author of a stickied thread, please make sure it's up to date. In addition, within a few weeks of WotLK release, we'll start unstickying any threads that are no longer relevant to level 80 content.

Item 3: As many of you may have noticed, we're starting to get a little more aggressive with moderation. This is not temporary; as Maintankadin has grown, it's drifted away from its original purpose of being a place for mature, intelligent theory and discussion, and it's become clear that we need to be a little more heavy-handed if we're going to return to that. So, just as a reminder, please keep the Code of Conduct in mind and post constructively. I would also like to remind everyone to please PM a moderator if you come across a post you feel needs moderator attention and not contribute to the issue by arguing in the thread itself. In addition, if you feel your post was moderated unfairly, you may PM either the moderator responsible or myself.

Thanks!

Does this forum software have a "Report this post" feature? Makes it a lot easier; just hit a button, type a short description of why bad post is bad, and you're done.

Now if we can just talk ya'll into disabling avatars and graphics in sigs, and putting all the stickies for each forum into one big sticky list we'll be good. Very Happy

I have strategy and gearing questions about the new Naxxramas-es. May I propose the creation of a Naxx subforum in the Strats & Info area?

Even with the beta incomplete, I suspect that the great majority of the Naxx encounters are set give or take a little number tweaking - so most of what would collect in there should be of lasting value. Or at least interesting.

We're still nailing down all the forum changes, but I think it's a pretty safe bet that we'll be dumping all the TBC strats & info forums somewhere (probably in their own subsection of the strats & info forum so they don't clutter up the board index) and making new forums for WotLK 5mans, Naxx 10, Naxx 25, and probably one combined forum for the three one-boss instances.

Eh, when I switched my guild forum software from phpbb2 to phpbb3 I was nervous too, but it went pretty smoothly. The only thing I had to redo from scratch was the moderators, but those were fairly complex and used usergroups, whereas it seems here we just have every forum direclty assigned a moderator, which should work correctly.
