Post Your Successes!

Was fun whipping out the old legendaries though! Wish I had more of them. Time to work on that.

you can use the dragon soul sword, and your legendary meta-gem and cloak and whatnot still.

It would be fun for nostalgia purposes if they kept it meaningful. Unfortunately, Shattered Halls was just as nerf as if you were level 70 running it today, and had no resemblance to when it was current content. I was very disappointed.

I was hoping they would release Kara as a timewalking option, but now I am glad they haven't. It would just be a sad shadow of its former self.

Dang, I missed that? I was too busy jackhammering in the basement to do any timewalking.

Jeff

I finally finished Final Fantasy VII. Took me long enough.

Ahhh the final boss is painful

Was pretty much a pushover, I thought. Knights of the Round does a pretty good job of knocking the HP down. (And I listened to the walkthrough and avoided using it against the very easy Jenova fight, because using KotR on Jenova increases Sephiroth's HP by about 80k.)

I skipped Emerald and Ruby Weapons, which may have actually been a challenge, and just rushed to the end on disc 3. Couldn't be bothered with that. I did kill Ultimate Weapon straight away on disc 2, which just took two KotR casts to kill. (A lot of my preparation for bosses in the last two discs was to look at the boss HP, see it was 100K or less, and just shrug and kill it. KotR is OP.)

Though the ending wasn't quite so much of a faceroll as the end of FFIX was after I'd spent hours on making a team that could beat Ozma (four characters with guaranteed 9999 damage attacks every turn).

I didnt have knights at all, was too boring to do the whole chocobo garbage

Yuffie's weapon does damage based on the lvl of the boss, so against emerald weapon it does 9999 damage, if you use attack all, it does 9999 to every little eye. =P

Vincent does more damage based on the total number of his kills, so its a grind, but eventually every single of his attacks will do 9999

Based on the Tonberry in the Northern Crater, I think I'd only had about 4200 kills total in the whole game, and I'd never used Vincent in my party, so that's more than I'd be willing to grind, haha.

I'm going to try and finish FFXII next. I got a good way through it before and stopped.

If you are looking to streamline a near 100% run, you might check out HCBailly's FF12 let's play on youtube as a play along. It's very thorough and efficient in getting all the rare hunts and I believe all if not most all of the post game content.

I was following an FAQ and a levelling guide, but I no longer know which ones. I was working on a lot of the hunts, the Espers, and did things like getting the Zodiac Spear as early as possible (which meant, IIRC, casting a bunch of buffs and outrunning all the monsters in a dungeon way above my level).

After spending a fair bit of the weekend working on it (well, in 15 minute intervals), Predator Ruldar is a go. Kind of a PITA with the long respawn time combined with the unwelcome surprise that unlike every other silver elite in Tanaan, Xemirkol is not shared tap. Thank goodness for cross-realm grouping and the good players who set up auto-join garrison groups.

I have stacked 2 cords of firewood in the driveway for winter fuel. And finished painting the house. And dug out a big hole for the new waste water tank. All avoidance behavior as I realized I can't bear to tank HFC in LFR... and poor wee Njall isn't qualified for dps (I think he needs to go through the proving grounds, yes?)

From the Frustrations thread:

Era wrote:Not exactly a frustration, more an anxiety that might turn into a frustration or a success. Had a job interview in Japan today (for a part time position teaching English), and it would be PERFECT for my schedule, preferences and needs. Went pretty well, but I know they've got other candidates too. Will hear from them by the end of next week, most likely.

Please oh please, lucky blonde hair, blue eyes and Scandinavian charm, do not fail me!

Lucky blonde hair blue eyes Nordic charm did not fail me! I got the job! Bit over an hour commute by train but whatever, Japan is Japan. Least the trains are always on time. Down to the second. Good excuse to get some reading done.

I think I saw a forum rule somewhere saying you're not allowed to simply post "This." either. ^^
Gotta have at least some content!

Success number two: Typhoon currently hitting the coast of Japan. Managed to make it back home before the worst of it!

Applied for my dream job. Wish me GL

Good Luck Worldie

Good luck! May your world-breaking powers break any obstacle between you and your dream job!
Now tell us more about this dream job! Are you taking over as the new host of Top Gear?

I didn't cheat at the online test they asked me. Should still have passed it but still, maybe I'm too stupid or too honest for this planet

Er... wait... are you supposed to cheat?

Online knowledge test. I could have checked the few answers I didn't know on the dedicated sites, but I'm quite confident any good industry would put a script that checks if you change browser tab in the test page, plus, I don't like cheating in general.

I imagine it's rather hard to check across two browsers, or you just using your phone to look them up?

I wouldn't risk that sort of stuff for a important job.
