Turn up to your next Void Reaver fight with full threat consumables (Flask of Blinding Light or Supreme Power, spell damage weapon oil, spell damage food).

Wear your T-4/T-5 gear, plus any other "defence+spell damage" pieces. Don't gimp your defensive gear too much - you should be wearing MT gear so the healers don't say you're squishy.

If the raid leader won't let you tank it, say you're there to DPS.

If you have a hunter friend, get him to MD you every cooldown. Get grouped with a Shadow Priest and a shaman, and have the shaman drop "Wrath of Air", IE: you want to be in one of the DPS caster groups, NOT the MT group. Bless Sanctuary, Retribution Aura.

Judge Crusader, pop wings, and do you max threat rotation. Use a mana pot as soon as you're down 3k mana. Once you have threat (first knockback, most likely, maybe earlier) get max rank Holy Shield in your rotation.

Proceed to hold aggro twice as well as any other tank.

Remember to spam Hammer of Wrath as soon as he hits 19% so the executing warriors don't out-threat you for the last minute or so.

At the end of the fight, say "So, how was the tanking?"

If not promoted to part of the MT team on the spot, the G-quit and get a real guild.

If you're really the best-geared tank, I'd tell them that they need to use you or lose you. There are a zillion well-geared Hunters out there, but there aren't a bunch of tanks that are as geared as you are, and most of those are very committed to their guilds.

Imho you are very marketable and can find a place where you'll be appreciated. Your officers' mentality is one of the most obnoxious in WoW or the real world: being arrogant and ignorant at the same time.

Well, let me tell you how it went for me. It took the guild awhile, but after wowing them with my tanking skills, and of course also showing a decent mentality to work with the other tanks, i'm now currently considered 1 of the 3 MT that the guild has. I'm also now a raid leader with my guild (that helps too!)

The guild leadership now likes paladin tanks so much we're trying to recruit another, but so far we're having problems. It seems my server has a shortage of paladin tanks >.<

Like a lot of other people have said, tell you want to tank or you are going to move on. There are lots of guilds that want paly tanks now, I even had one guild offer to gear me out for 25 mans a couple of days after I hit 70 and tanked a instance with some of their people.

Heroic badge paly tanking gear and big buffs to the prot tree as well as ZA was Blizz giving prot palys a big boost, and they are going to keep doing the same, I am sure in the next expansion there will be lots of content for prot palys to shine in and raids that turned away all the prot palys are going to scrambling to pick a couple up.

what i did was simple.......bubble the tank during the pull and go to town. if you got some healers who beleive in you and what not. let them know so you get the heals. dont take shit. most people wont beleive it till they see it. since then i have mt'd all of ssc,tk,gruuls, mag, kara everything really Smile

I would totally disregard all the posts to sneak in and tank something when you are not told to tank it. If I were leading the raid and one of the paladins bubbled the tank so he could jump in, he would be out of the raid. No questions asked. There's no reason he should be targeting the other tank, or keeping his mouse near the BoP button. Even if he tanked it all successfully and we downed a boss for the first time, he would be out. As a raid leader I don't care so much that you can tank it better than the warrior, but that you fit in with the raid and listen to leadership as well as the warrior. The key to an encounter is teamwork. For the majority of people, it's not that they think a paladin can't tank something, but that a warrior can tank it better, make it easier on healers, etc. So just barging in and tanking something when you are given another role specifically just shows that you lack the other important things a raid member needs and will most likely not get you invited back.

I don't think new yorkers know the concept of seconds. That is, unless the subways are having signal probs.

Neway, respect, listening to orders and teamwork are as important in maintaining good guild relations as skill and gear. Don't ever compromise it in order to get something you want.

Nowadays, there are more guilds that want paladin tanks then there are guilds that follow the Nihilum formula. If you want to tank, go out there and search for opportunities. The OP is probably at a gear lvl most paladin tanks in that server hasn't reached yet. But soon enough there will come a time when you have to compete with them for a raid spot.

A paladin tank spot in a raid team IMO is one of the most secure spots in a raid (warriors and bears swap in and out often depending on number of "tanks" needed for a fight, the paladin will stay since he's a tank that can provide a round of buffs to everyone). As other paladins realize this you might miss out on your chance. I check LFM on the heroic daily instance and I see prot pallies on the list all the time.

while it is messed up and something dumb to do lets be real. your being told to leave. not put up a fight. told to run with your leg between your tail basically.many people are used to the old wow back before bc. only tank was a warrior hardly even a ferral druid was allowed to tank anything. if you have done all you can to get them to give you a chance by talking, then sometimes action is needed. not that it works all the time. but seeing is beleiving.

Talk to the raid leaders talk to guild leaders, but don't be pushy and stick with your current guild after the talks for a month to see if change happens and then and only then think about swapping.

I faced a bigger struggle of changing to a tank from being one of the best healers in the guild started about 8 weeks before 2.3 patch faced proving that I could even tank and faced lots of negative feedback from members who didn't think pallys could tank. Now I'am part of the tanking team have main tanked and off tanked on progression runs in TK and ZA and SSC and now those same doubter's ask me all the time to tank heroics for them and happy as larry to have me as a MT in raids.

Stick with it people take time to change their views, and if they don't you can always swap then and you only lost a month or so and then your sure of your choice.

boycott the raids if you don't have opportunities to MT anything.

to be honest they add tanking thingy can be done by holy paladins too, why prot (this has been raise my GL many times), he wants a prot paly to tank the adds of the bosses in 25 man, but i will never get a touch of MTing anything, as he views warrior > druid > paladin.

Do warrior really do have a upper hand in tanking? it's so stupid that last night i was talking to our MT he does think choosing a warrior > druid/paladin over most of the fights, for more secure and stable runs, also he doesn't like the idea of AoE boss tanking (along with our RL and GL), since it's hard workload on the healers too.

No matter how hard i prove myself and upgrade myself thr heroics i still get the same results, I will always be the last resort tank, and ur job is to tank adds, not trash mobs, but adds.

really depends how u feel about it, i can't take this BS anymore so i will /gquit this rl friend guild for the 3rd time once i do have more playing time, i do like playing with my friends, but if they limited ur future and u find it no fun then just seek another guild, if u want progress of the guild, then spec holy like someone said on page 1, or just keep this role that ur given, once the core raiders (especially GL and RL don't like the idea of paly MT) then it's basically GG

(GOOD) tanks are in short supply; arms warriors with def rating gear, noobs who spec prot but have dps gear, etc. are plentiful, but dont get teh job done

in fact my guild is just starting kara (were downing shade after a wipe or two, and getting toasted by illhoof's imp army) and one of the enchancement shamans (who is a dickhead) gave me shit; my response was "this is why there are so few tanks on this server" shut everyone up real quick
