Post Your Successes!

I've been more than ready for kara for 2 or 3 months, and this weekend I finally had the chance to go. I went with a guild alt druid that has been running kara with his old guild on friday nights for the last few weeks.

We get in there and druid MT tells me to tank the X. After the first couple pulls I went ahead and grabbed X and O when the healers had developed some trust in my ability. From there on out it was smooth sailing. I tanked midnight and moroes, then when we hit maiden I asked if I should switch to healing gear. He goes, "Why, you're tanking her".

Long story short, the raid had complete faith in me, even though they never had a pally tank in kara. I impressed them enough in lower kara that they let me MT the hard hitters in upper kara. I mt'd prince and nightbane (my first time ever fighting them, never even fought them on my main), and I ot'd but messed up on beam duty for netherspite. I got hit with the red beam accidentally pretty much rendering me worthless for the fight.

For some reason i was in good favor with the wow gods that night. It was plate drop night and I cashed in. I got the bracers off attumen, which were more or less a side grade from my Green Fortress ones, Crimson Girdle off of Moroes (upgrade from Arc key belt), T4 glove token (grabbed tanking gloves and enchanted with 20SP), and last but not least...panzar'thar! The run also left me with exactly 35 badges so I grabbed Slikk's Cloak right away.

Wrynn's also dropped, but since I already had the badge leggings they went to the holy pally. I also received a couple welfare healing items; the gloves off of attumen and the healing mace which was mistakenly given to me instead of the feral druid.

I increased my hp by over 1000 and AC by 3 or 400, and went from kara ready to ZA ready overnight (literally, the raid ended about 4am).

Once again, I want to thank all of you for time invested in strategy, theory crafting, and intelligent questions answered on this board. Even w/o all the sweet gear upgrades, I had a blast playing wow all night. My adrenaline was pumping hardcore during the prince fight, something I haven't felt since downing Vael in BWL a year and a half ago. Also, it was a rush receiving all the compliments at the end of the run. There was the usual "I love pally tanks" in /ra chat after we downed nightbane, and I even received whispers from one of the priests telling me great job and saying she'd never seen a pally hold aggro and survive as well as I did in a raid.

FINALLY mustered up the courage to tank Nightbane... Two wipes and one success!

The bubble macros are really dangerous though because even one second of losing aggro can mean a dead DPS. In the end, the group would much rather have a warrior doing the tanking.

Loving the Pally Tank.

So far I have successfully tanked through the Curator and a few different Heroics.

As you can see from my sigs, I have a Prot War and a Prot Pally. They both have their good and bad points, but everybody in my guild likes my Pally tank for group AoE tanking. I can generate so much threat on multiple mobs, it allows them to go all out. Runs like Shattered Halls are a cinch with a Pally Tank.

Meh I got two weapons on my War right now, but I use Azure-Shield of Coldarra to tank with.

My turn.

Been ret for 3-4 months now, picking up Merc. Glad. gear, etc. Got my personal dps up to 650 or so, 730+ with windfury if I don't have to run around. It is nice, but no matter what I can't keep up with other DPS classes that are less geared than I am. That is depressing.

So I started building a tank suit. Now, I was prot when BC first came out, my biggest tanking adventure back then was a heroic sethekk halls and it was HARD, multiple multiple wipes. Well, I've been getting very lucky in drops lately. 3 or 4 Kara pieces, Hammer and Shield off of ZA, 75 badge BP recently purchased. I had just enough yesterday to get uncrushable. So respec I did.

Well yesterday was a good day. Main tanked Illhoof w/o a lock, Netherspite (didn't mess up on the beams! Yay!) and Prince in a pug Kara. Got the Shoulders off Netherspite, then wouldn't ya know it.... guild Gruul's run and I MT High King and Gruul! Woot! Got the shoulders off HK on the same day! Fairly hairy moment on gruul when i got hit around 11 growths and knocked down to NINE hitpoints. That is 09 hitpoints. Holy crap did I about pee myself. But he is dead and I'm not.

Sorry to ramble but holy cow yesterday was fun!

Maybe not a big success, but I got to lead a ZA group. My guild is still struggling through ZA, we have one group that is going in and our warr MT/raid lead and his wife (holy priest lead) were both offline. We had some discussion and decided we still wanted to go, so I grabbed one of the Kara tanks and a couple of the Kara healers and we headed on in. We had a fun time, wiped about 4 times total, and got a priest upgraded from D3 to the Nalorak robes. All in all, good times had, and I got to call out everything that was going to happen.

Well, this Thursday we went in to TK. We downed Al'ar for our first time (3rd try), and then 1 shotted VR (7minute kill). We've been bringing in a few members of the top guild on the server, who have agreed to help us out... they brought me into SSC with them last night, and I got the honors of:

Tanking Morogrims Murlocs
Tanking Sharkkiss and Pet
Assisting tanking Leotheras the blind
Coilfang Elite spawn on Vashj

It was pretty intense, and I saw a lot of opportunity for a Paladin tank in SSC. It was pretty fun Smile

Killed Mother in BT with under a week's worth of work on her, and the next night got the Council down to 39%. Hopefully I'll be taking my first in-game look at Illidan by reset of next week Very Happy

First night in Mount Hyjal. We only have 2 nubs left who need Kael's vial so only one more godforsaken @!#$#@$@#$@#$ TK clear to go.

So here's some scary stats for you, courtesy of ZA badge gear.

My Mount Hyjal Trash Clearing Stats:

Buffed HP: 20843
Block Rating: 42.83%
Block Value: 741 (1001 trinketed)

I was literally not being hurt when I had the autoblocker up, and basically being hit for about 18 when the autoblocker was down since I had the figurine being fired. I literally tanked all ghouls and all crypt fiends (Hell I even had an abomination mixed in there at one point too since some nub priest didn't shackle before it hit my consecrate.

As far as I'm concerned, at least Rage's trash is easier then the heroic I ran after we finished for the night.

On a side note, with exactly 1 try on Rage, we got him to 30% before the raid wiped due to the melee being retarded and not getting out of death and decay.
