Re: Buzz Aldrin Punches Critic

All those conspiracy theory people have too much time on their hands, someone should introduce them to WoW.

What is this site? Reporting the 15 year old scars on Jupiter as new isn't exactly brilliant.

If you actually read the article you would notice that they are referring to the new impact, first discovered by an amateur astronomer in Australia. The marks left by Shoemaker-Levy, the comet you are referencing disappeared long ago. Maybe read a bit further before insulting someone's work.

As for the wacko fucking nut jobs that say the landing is a fake, well I guess we can't fix stupid. Don't forget your foil hats, the CIA is listening.

its an AM radio show my friends listen to when they are all fucked up after a long night of partying.... I listened to it on the ride home last weekend from a party.... its like people who are really into conspiracy theories and they try to link unrelated events and people together.... it was really funny at the time, but I was also drunk and really tired

Edit: Actually one of my friends listens to it for his own amusement.... not fucked up....

Much respect for Wernher von Braun, the Saturn V is insanely badass. In my opinion it sits near the top of US engineering accomplishments.

Shoju wrote:Dude Buzz Aldrin Smashed that guy good. Bravo to him. It cracks me up that people still believe that the moon landing was faked, and that there are mind control gases in jet fumes, and that (around here anyway) the giant stone walls separating highways from dense residential areas are the walls for the incoming Concentration Camps.

That guy he punched sounded a lot like a nut bag I used to work with. He used to believe he was being watched by multiple government organizations, and that they would 'let him know' they had been there to check up on him by leaving a penny (heads up = FBI Tails up = CIA) to let him know they had been there.

Once he spouted off his rant that only pure blooded Anglo Saxons were going to heaven. My response was. "So you mean I'm going to hell!?" He said "What do you mean?" I said, "FOR THE LOVE OF GOD MAN! MY MOM IS MEXICAN!". He turned around and walked away fast.

From that day on, the "FBI" and "CIA" really stepped up how often they came to work. I pity the poor woman accross the street at the bank. Once a week, I would ask for a mixed roll of pennies. I didn't want too many of them to be the same date, so he wouldn't get the idea, and every week, the FBI and CIA came to see that asshole 40-50 times combined.

WTB Buzz Aldrin Punchout for the Wii.

You should try leaving one balanced on its edge, just to see what he does

It's nothing more then a bigger and more advanced version of his V2.

The Russians didn't do too badly either. Some of their heavy lift rockets are most impressive.

Wernher von Braun

People are going to get bent out of shape over that......the same people who forgot who invented dynamite.....

A fucking genius who contributes to the wholesale slaughter of thousands of people is no less a fucking genius....

That is like saying the Bugatti Veyron is nothing more than an advanced version of the Ford Model T, or the SR-71 is just an update to the Wright flyer. The v2 was a single stage sub-orbital rocket with a 200 mile range, the Saturn V is miles ahead in complexity and usefulness and, in my opinion, a whole different beast.

I am guessing that your response was because of his association with the Nazi's, but in truth, what option did he have. He was in the same boat as current soldiers in Iraq, they didn't choose to go there, the leadership of their country did. His government was a little more twisted, but its the same relationship. Thomas Edison's technology is used to kill people, yet we enjoy the positive benefits of his scientific contributions every day. Albert Einstein, undisputed genius, worked on the Manhattan project yielding the atomic bomb, tragic, but we use energy provided by atomic reactors. The same applies to Braun.

War is a horrible thing, but it is also one of, if not the, driving influences for technological innovation. I wasn't praising his past killing, as I am sure he wasn't particularly proud of this time, but he did apply his genius to better mankind later on in his career.

That's not what I meant.

what option did he have
I don't know, maybe uhm... refuse? He never invented something "foor the good of mankind" like Nobel which was then used as a weapon of war. He came up with increasingly effective ways of killing people which were later adapted for more peaceful means. Which as you might have noticed is the other way around.

He was in the same boat as current soldiers in Iraq
I think you're short changing US troops here, they enlisted and perform their duty which does not involve morally justifying the war they fight in or the orders they follow. He wasn't a soldier, and as such could not be ordered. Instead, he actively made decisions himself.

A fucking genius who contributes to the wholesale slaughter of thousands of people is no less a fucking genius....

You are absolutely right on that, he was a brilliant engineer and his work on the space program is impressive. I just don't think it's fitting to applaud him like that.

Dynamite was also invented to help with constrution, never as part of the war machine.
