Divine Guardian 10%?

If it's already been discussed, it isn't obvious from post titles... apologies.

The wording on DG is a little vague about the 10% effectiveness for DSac. Is that 10% more of the paladin's max health? Is it a 40% redirect instead of 30%? Is it a 33% redirect? Is it a stronger redirect and for more total damage?

I'll test it when I can get online, but I thought maybe someone had tested this already.

I remember my DSac tooltip saying 40% damage redirected on the PTR. Can't say as to whether it affects the cap.

yep, cool enough... the 150% didn't change, but the 30% went to 40% on the tooltip. Now, assuming that's really true... I mostly just picked it up for the 60-sec SS though.

Divine Sacrifice is awesome.

Divine Guardian increases the percentage of the absorbtion effect from 30% to 40%.
The 150% max. HP cap remains unchanged.

However there is some misunderstanding about the functionallity of Divine Sacrifice:
Over the course of the 10 second duration the total absorbtion amount is not limited.
The 150% max. HP refers to the maximum possible size of a single absorb.

For example:
Popping Divine Sacrifice when the Deconstructor's Tympanic Tantrum is about to hit, will allow you to absorb 40% raid damage over the full duration of 10 seconds.
(However you won't survive it unless you use Divine Shield in combination.)

On a side note Divine Protection does not reduce redirected damage.

If DS is really overcoming the 150% hp cap on DScr,i wont hold up hopes of it lasting too long.My bet is they'll fix it someway as soon as they get news about it

Ah, divine protection not reducing the damage might explain me dying when I tried to pop both on Xt-002's tantrum.

Lol, me too. I went from 100%-0% in 1 sec with all the redirected damage. Should have read that post earlier.

After parsing yesterday's XT-002 combat log, I can confirm the following:

- With both 1/1 Divine Sacrifice and 2/2 Divine Guardian, Divine Sacrifice transfers 40% instead of 30%
- Using Divine Shield removes the limit. I checked 2 instances when I popped Sacrifice+Shield, and in one example over 75k raid damage was absorbed, in the other one over 100k was absorbed. I was ret specced and geared at the time, so my HP was about 25k.

Has somebody tested if Hand of Protection (good old BoP) will block any of the redirected damage during the tantrum?
I know I can divine shield + divine guardian on the 1st tantrum, but I was thinking about doing it again for 3rd one if I can
somehow survive it, since it's only a 2 min cooldown. I found out divine protection won't do it...

Just looked into the WWS during enrage our MT had the Divine Sacrifice buff on him for full 10 seconds but he did not transfer any damage.
This is therefore different from Hand of Sacrifice.

Ah, that makes sense, the tooltips on the two are worded differently. I'm now very happy that I spec'd into DS/DG after all since this makes Divine Sac + Shield the OPness that it was for things like Twilight Torment.

Furthermore the druids new talent 'Savage Defense' seems bugged in combination with the Paladin's absorbtion effects:

1:42'53.954 Hephistos's Savage Defense is refreshed.
1:42'54.435 Razorscale #5 melee swing hits Hephistos for 23687 Physical. (1655 Absorbed)
1:42'54.781 Hephistos Savage Defense was removed from Hephistos.
1:42'55.174 Hephistos Divine Sacrifice causes 9747 damage to Lailani.

Browsing through the Combat Log this was the relevant string of events.
Note that this 9747 is exactly 40% of 23687.
Effectively this damage is generated additionally by Divine Sacrifice and normally would not exist.
On the other side:

1:42'59.164 Hephistos Savage Defense was removed from Hephistos.
1:42'59.649 Razorscale #5 melee swing hits Hephistos for 13995 Physical. (9330 Absorbed)
1:43'00.381 Hephistos Divine Sacrifice causes 9330 damage to Lailani.

Here 9330 is exactly 66.6% of 13995 which fits the ratio of 40/60.
Without our druid being affected by Savage Defense my Divine Guardian is working as intended.
I have not investigated other absorbtion effects or sources of damage yet.

First:

The damage from Div. Sac is physical, so yes, Hand of Protection will make you immune to it.


Second:

The 150% HP cap seems to be a cap on the ammount of damage you take post-mitigation. That'd explain why putting up a bubble lets the ability absorb more than 150% of your health. That leads me to believe that you can also mitigate 50% of the damage with Divine Protection, but you'll still TAKE up to 150% of your max HP, should it be done. With Divine Protection up, the raid/group would need to take (let's assume 40kHP) 300k damage to trigger the full effect of Divine Sacrifice

40k(hp)x1.5(150% cap) x 2 (50% DR from Shield wall) = 120k = 300k x .4 (40% absorbtion)
or
40kx2 = 80k = 200k x .4
which shows the amount of raid damage required to kill you, using Divine Protection and not receiving heals (or taken instantly).

Unless we're 100% sure Divine Protection doesn't help? I have to assume it does, as it's just physical damage that can be absorbed by Divine Shield or Hand of Protection.

I don't want to 100% confirm, but I can vaguely remember times I've popped HoSac or Div Sac with Divine Protection and it ticking for the same (not reduced).
