Brutallus

Postby Ossuary » Wed Feb 20, 2008 2:23 am

Has anyone elses Guild clashed heads with the most recent hotfix to brutallus aka the Grounding totems no longer eating burns. Afaik this makes the fight pretty much impossible.
Even with just 2 tanks, 6 healers and an asston of dps we managed to beat the previous brutallus' enrage by about 45 seconds but with this change the burn will end up wiping us on the first burn

(unless we used 2 protadins, 6 healadins and 17 retdins and just bubbl'lold)

I was under the impression that using 2 tanks was borderline suicidal, with the possible burst on the MT being too much?

We are going to try next reset. Is this change already live on EU PTR? Because last time grounding were eating it.

Yeah, went up against him last night, we ended up using 3 tanks, Burn wasn't an issue really because keeping up the tanks was; didn't stay alive long enough to heal through the 7k 7k 7k 7k 15k burn ticks at the end.

We split into 4 groups, 3 soaker+tank groups and the melee group in the back, had enough space inbetween everyone so burn wouldn't spread but the entire group would still eat the meteor. Worked well enough to save the tanks from eating huge spikes, but we had to switch tanks every 2 Meteors, every 20 seconds, to avoid the raid getting more than 2 stacks so that 'hopefully' burn would be ticking strong as Meteor Slash faded, every 60 seconds. Seemed to work well enough but the healing required on the fight, let alone the HP required for a non-tank to be able to survive a burn with 1, let alone 2 stacks of Meteor Slash is just undoable at the moment.

We wasted about 3 hours on him last night, got him to 68% on a zerg before everyone died from mass fire damage, the fight is definitely overtuned at this point, the previous HP boost was actually a nice gear/dps check, this latest incarnation is just silly.

EDIT: OH HEY OSSUARY! Friend of mine just joined you guys, Daylen! Kick him out plz <3

So wait, at the moment he has both the Burn aoe, and Meteor style skill, am i correct?

So in fact seemb that dividing raid into 4 groups is the best solution.

They made burn absorb-able by grounding totem again so it is now able to be done. As to the 2 tank strategy, we have been farming BT/Hyjal for months now so the tanks are best geared, we also stack a ton of casters on the tanks to help eat the meteor strike dmg.

EDIT: Atreidies ill call him a noob tonight, doing PTR now

Not the same Brutallus, 3.0 was doable, Burn could be absorbed via Grounding Totem. Brutallus 3.2 is current iteration, 3.1 is the same as 3.2 but Burn damage was reduced in 3.2.

mass fire damage. anyone tried it in FR gear? even just a lil bit would probably help if thats what's killing everyone.

Can't wear FR gear and beat a 6 minute enrage timer on a boss with 10 million HP.
