What else do i need to know?

Okay, basically, I started out a holy pally Alliance on Deathwing, towards the end of my time there respecced prot and really enjoyed it, so when i re-rolled horde on Perenolde I made a dedicated prot pally, i've only recently been referred to this site and found it amazing. I've learnt much already and looking to capitalise on what else i can do to improve.

First off the improvements i intend to make to start with are as follows:

-replace Felsteel Leggings with Timewardens
-get the jade skull breastplate from mech
-Respec (haven't decided final spec, but i will be re-sedtributing my holy points and fixing up my prot points to be neater and more effecient)
-replacing shield with either heroic or shatar exaulted (whichever comes first honestly)

I see that i'll be sacrificing some stats on those items, but since coming here have realised the mitigation is far more important at the moment.

If you guys have any further pointers or adjustments to those i will make i would greatly appreciate the advice!

* Don't forget your Libram of Repentance.
* Devilshark Cape is an upgrade from your current cloak.
* Flesh Beast's Metal Greaves are a reward from the escort quest in the Mana-Tombs. They have less stamina then your current boots but much more avoidance, which you severely lack to be uncrushable.
* Buy your Strength of the Untamed from Cenarion Expedition.

If your total is still under 102.4% , consider replacing your Dabiri's Enigma with a Figurine of the Colossus. But make sure you stay above 490 defense.

( If you are not familiar with crushing blows, I suggest reading this : Crushing Blows )

* Try to put +12 stamina gems everywhere, if you have the money ;)

Do not feel like you are sarificing anything by losing strenght or critical strike rating. Those two stats are next to useless for a paladin tank.

Have fun.

Cheers for the advice!

First course of action is to purchase everything that's from a vendor! second, lots and lots of 5 mans! :D

I have another question, it may seem a bit silly, but remember i'm new here!

i got some awesome information from posts here specifically about the Combat Table and how to manipulate it, however i was a little confused about one particular aspect of crushing blows.

There seemed to be conflicting reports of where these stem from, ie:

one post would state that they enter a combat table when a mob has 15 more weapon skill then you, and another when a mob is 3 levels above you (or a skull which is the same thing).

if it is a level issue, sweet, nothing i can do about it cept maximise my gear to reduce it effectively,

if it is a weapon skill issue, would weapon expertise be viable way to counter this? (i know, considering weapon expertise viable brings a shudder to me!)

If anyone can point out flaws in my logic please do! as i'm here to learn and it's the only way that will happen!

Cheers!

When it has 15 more weapon skill than your base defense skill. Weapon Expertise only affects your weapon skill, not the mob's weapon skill or your defense skill. And there's no way to increase your base defense skill without leveling up; you can only add on top of your base skill additional skill from gear.

So, they're both right. A mob 3 levels above you, and a skull-level boss mob (for combat calculation purposes, they're treated as 3-levels-above) will always have the capacity to crushing-blow you as long as they use melee attacks, unless you collect enough miss/dodge/parry/block to make that not an option for their hit table.
