Considering new Specs (RESEARCH, SEE PAGE 2)

Pro:
Gives me Imp LoH
Gives me about 20 more int (lol)
Gives me Imp SoR

Con:
Costs me 4 points of parry

Debatable:
In order to maintain the 3 points in Weapon Expertise (And yes its better then precision), I need to drop some points in Ardent Defender which versus raid bosses has debatable value.

How is Weapon Expertise better than Precision when Precision applies to Avenger's Shield as well, which can certainly hurt when it 'misses'?

Back to the topic, that build looks great to me, the threat increase from Imp. SoR is definitely a noticeable difference and who doesn't love Imp. LoH?

Because less of my melee attacks will be mitigated ant it actually results in a 5-6 effective +hit % increase.

What I'm thinking here is that the healers willhave no problem with the 4% less parry during the early phases, and during the later phases of the fight I need that extra damage soak. 30% more armor is a serious frigging number for a tank.

Wouldn't you use LoH for when you fall low on HP? Ardent defender wouldn't save you? It seems good but bad at the same time, don't know tbh.

I've been wondering about this too, but losing Deflection would really suck - Parry has some threat benefits.

That said, 30% armor is a LOT, and since it lasts for 2 minutes, that will get you through the 'bad' phases on pretty much every boss (Phase 2 Prince, anyone?).

*cough* 20/41/0 gives you good healing and great tanking if you can still hit uncrushable without Deflection *cough*

I'm not interested in good healing. Holy tree aside from imp LoH is useless to me.

Going to try 2 expermintal builds over the next 2 weeks. 1 which sacrifices deflection and keeps reckoning, and 1 which sacrifices reckoning for deflection.

Look for WWS posts.

Uncrushability isn't the only reason to get Deflection. 5% avoidance is.

And the bloated Prot tree and the fact that Deflection is a 2nd Tier Ret talent vs. T1 for Warriors is the reason why alot of paladins consider speccing out of it for improved versatility in other areas.

I've been debating it back and forth for a while now. I decided I'm going to go with this spec before our next Mag attempts. I have a couple weeks of raid stats for him, so it would be interesting to compare.

Here's the spec I'm going with though, it only costs me 2 points in parry.
http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/cla ... 0000000000

From my current spec I lose
2% parry
360 ish armor
3% damage from one hand spec

but I gain:
15% SoR damage
20 more int as well
5000 armor when imp LoH is active, if I also use a stoneshield pot, that will put me at almost 25,000 armor... mmm.

But you're also losing imp judgement? Sure your JoR will hit harder, but it will come less often.

quite nice idea.
but killing new bosses normally takes more than 1 try....i think you are more valuable if you take a smaller amount of damage each try compared to having 1 try with +5k armor every 40 min. and i think AD is valuable, even for raiding protadins. additionally theres still 4% parry...

but i liked the idea. what about this one?

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/cla ... 00000#none

only 2% parry lost and still with AD, and compared to aergis build with spellwarding and 1h-spec. just dropped reckoning. didnt proc often anyway and i'm convinced that i doesnt need to rely on a rare proc to maintain threat.

I'm not saying it's a terrible idea. I'm just saying that I'm not sure it's worth the sacrifice. Taking > 5% more damage all the time versus having 30% extra armour some of the time.

I can see the benefits. Just not sure it's worth it.
