Invis is my officer and RL, so I think I can field this question.
First: He pretty much logs out in TF for the wow factor.
Second: He honestly has like 3 or 4 different weapons that he's constantly switching between (though I think this trend has calmed down a bit). Basically, when he has enough of a threat lead (and he builds it EXTREMELY fast, believe me!), he'll switch out to the TF for the tclap effect it grants.
And no, it's not used all the time, don't worry.
